Why do we want you?
Astutis, part of Wilmington plc, is looking for a motivated Sales Development Representative who enjoys building relationships, starting conversations, and uncovering new business opportunities. You may already have some experience in sales, lead generation, customer service, or a target-driven environment, and you're eager to develop a long-term career in B2B sales.
You'll be confident speaking with people at all levels, naturally curious, and skilled at asking the right questions to understand customer needs. With a proactive mindset, you'll take ownership of both inbound enquiries and outbound prospecting activity, qualifying opportunities and creating a high-quality pipeline for our Business Development Managers.
Most importantly, you'll be driven by results, resilient when faced with challenges, and motivated by the direct impact your efforts have on business growth. If you're someone who thrives on making connections, learning new skills, and turning conversations into opportunities, we'd love to hear from you.
Please note: To complete your application, you will be redirected to Wilmington plc’s career site. At Wilmington plc, we celebrate individuality and are committed to fostering an inclusive workplace. As a Disability Confident employer, we shortlist all applicants who meet the essential role criteria and guarantee an interview for candidates with disabilities who meet these criteria. For reasonable adjustments or to apply under our interview guarantee scheme, please use the contact details provided once you have clicked “apply ”!
Job purpose, tasks and responsibilities
Your responsibilities will include:
Own and respond quickly to all inbound leads and enquiries.
Run proactive outbound campaigns to warm and new prospects by phone, email and LinkedIn.
Introduce Astutis and uncover needs through structured qualification (budget, authority, timescales, decision-making structure, trigger events and requirements).
Book qualified meetings for our Business Development Managers (Customer Solutions Managers) and hand over clear, well-documented opportunities.
Keep the CRM accurate and up to date with every activity, contact and opportunity.
Work with Marketing to follow up campaigns and Account Based Marketing activity.
Build strong product and sector knowledge so you can hold credible conversations with HSE and L&D buyers.
What’s the best thing about this role?
You’re at the front of the sales engine. Every opportunity you create shapes the team’s results, and a proven route leads from SDR into BDM and Account Management roles.
What’s the most challenging thing?
It’s activity-driven and fast-paced. Not every conversation converts, so you’ll need resilience, discipline, and the judgement to tell a real opportunity from a polite conversation.
Essential and desirable capabilities
To be successful in this role, you must have:
- Experience in a lead generation, SDR, telesales or recruitment role, ideally B2B.
- Confidence on the phone and with outbound activity every day.
- The ability to ask good questions and qualify an opportunity, not just book a meeting.
- Comfortable working to activity, meeting and conversion targets.
- Strong organisation and accuracy with CRM and data.
- Ambition to grow into a BDM or Account Management role.
To be successful in this role, it would be great if you have:
- Knowledge of platforms such as Cognism, LinkedIn Sales Navigator, Lead Forensics and Dripify.
- An understanding of the Astutis product portfolio and the sectors we serve.
We know it’s not a skill, but the successful candidate must have permission to work in the role’s location by the start of their employment.
