maintain scalable data pipelines, backend APIs, and cloud-based data processing systems.\n\nThe ideal candidate has strong experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Python, FastAPI, BigQuery, Apache Iceberg, and DuckDB, along with a solid understanding of modern data engineering architectures.\n\nExperience in the healthcare industry is highly preferred, particularly working with healthcare datasets, FHIR, HL7, or HIPAA-compliant systems.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\nDesign, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines and ETL/ELT workflows using Python and GCP.\n\nDevelop high-performance RESTful APIs and microservices using FastAPI.\n\nBuild and optimize analytical data solutions using BigQuery, Apache Iceberg, and DuckDB.\n\nIntegrate data from multiple sources, including REST APIs, databases, cloud storage, and third-party systems.\n\nDesign and maintain data lake and lakehouse architectures.\n\nWork with GCP services such as Cloud Run, Cloud Functions, Cloud Storage, Pub/Sub, Dataflow, Dataproc, and Cloud Composer.\n\nOptimize SQL queries, data processing performance, and cloud infrastructure costs.\n\nImplement data validation, quality checks, monitoring, and error handling.\n\nDevelop automated testing and CI/CD pipelines for backend services and data workflows.\n\nCollaborate with engineering and product teams to deliver reliable, production-ready solutions.\n\nImplement secure data access, authentication, and authorization following cloud security best practices.\n\nRequired Qualifications\n\n4+ years of professional experience in Python backend development or data engineering.\n\nStrong hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP).\n\nAdvanced Python programming skills, including asynchronous programming and data processing.\n\nProduction experience building APIs using FastAPI.\n\nStrong SQL skills and experience with Google BigQuery.\n\nExperience with Apache Iceberg, DuckDB, or similar modern analytical data technologies.\n\nExperience building ETL/ELT pipelines and handling large datasets.\n\nFamiliarity with data modeling, partitioning, indexing, and query optimization.\n\nExperience with Docker, Git, and CI/CD pipelines.\n\nUnderstanding of cloud IAM, service accounts, authentication, and security.\n\nStrong debugging, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.\n\nGood English communication skills.\n\nPreferred Qualifications\n\nPrevious experience in the U.S. healthcare industry.\n\nKnowledge of healthcare data standards such as FHIR, HL7, and EHR/EMR integrations.\n\nUnderstanding of HIPAA compliance and secure handling of PHI/PII.\n\nExperience with GCP Healthcare API and FHIR data processing.\n\nExperience with Apache Airflow, dbt, Apache Beam, or PySpark.\n\nFamiliarity with Terraform and Infrastructure as Code.\n\nExperience with PostgreSQL, Redis, or other database technologies.\n\nKnowledge of data governance, observability, and performance monitoring.\n\nWorking Hours & Availability\n\nU.S. time zone availability is a strict requirement for this position.\n\nMust be available during U.S. Eastern Time (ET) business hours.\n\nFull-time commitment of approximately 40 hours per week.\n\nMust be able to attend daily standups, technical discussions, and team meetings.\n\nStrong communication skills and responsiveness
