Director, Client Partnerships (Advocacy & Public Affairs)

The big picture: Axios is a media company dedicated to providing trustworthy, award-winning news content in an audience-first format. We are hiring a Director, Client Partnerships to join our growing advocacy and associations advertising team in DC and will report to the Head of Advocacy and Public Affairs.

Why it matters: In this role, you will work with new and existing partners to build Axios’ revenue through successful client partnerships, with a focus on building and nurturing relationships with advocacy organizations, non-profits, and policy-driven entities to expand Axios's impact in the advocacy sector.

In this role you’ll:

• Develop and maintain strategic relationships with advocacy groups, non-profits, policy organizations, and related agencies and stakeholders.
• Act as a brand ambassador for Axios, representing the company at events and within the advocacy community.
• Identify and pursue new partnership opportunities to drive revenue and expand Axios's presence in the advocacy space.
• Work closely with internal teams to ensure the successful execution of partnership initiatives.

Worthy of your time: Ideal candidates will embody an entrepreneurial spirit and passion for Axios’ mission. This position requires the following:

• 7+ years’ experience in sales, specifically in the digital media/news industry 
• Established relationships with key agencies and advocacy organizations
• Understanding of the advocacy landscape in Washington, D.C., with established relationships with key stakeholders
• Experience in an outbound sales environment 
• Understanding of digital media, online marketing technology, and Axios’ competitive landscape
• Exceptionally collaborative, both within your own team and cross-functionally 
• Willingness to travel and attend industry events and networking engagements
• Growth mindset with hunger to constantly learn and improve your craft 
• Comfortable with a mix of outbound sales strategy as well as the nurturing of inbound leads and existing client relationships
• Track record of successfully hitting targets and quotas

Starting salary for this role is in the range of $95,000 - $105,000 and is dependent on numerous factors, including but not limited to location, work experience, and skills. This range does not include other compensation and benefits. Axios' compensation philosophy takes into account cost of labor differentials across the country. Because this is a remote-optional job posting, this salary range takes into account all possible locations within the United States, but candidates will only be eligible for the salary range for their location.

Note that the total compensation offered for this role includes incremental variable compensation based on sales territory, which is contingent upon the successful achievement of predetermined sales targets.
