Our software moves energy usage to times when electricity is cheap and green, by controlling vehicle charging, heating systems, and home batteries. We control hundreds of thousands of energy assets.\nWe’re building in a legacy industry and moving gigawatt-hours of electrons in the real world, but we operate at lightning speed, and we’re growing the team to meet customer demand.\nWe’re proud to be supported by world-leading investors, including Accel.\nRead more about what we’re building here.\nAbout the role\nWe’re looking for our first product designer to level-up design throughout the company.\nAxle is building cutting-edge energy products across the sector - from simple offerings for mass-market consumers, through to advanced tooling for early adopters and enthusiasts. We’re innovating to solve new and complex problems where there’s no established answers and where the customer experience is key.\nWe have a highly autonomous, flat structure, delivering our products in small interdisciplinary teams of engineers and PMs. We want to add a design voice as a pillar to this: understanding our users, leading our strategic direction, and ensuring the customer is always represented.\nYou’ll operate across the business to raise the quality of all our design output - through both direct delivery, as well as enablement and coaching of others.\nAlongside this, we’re looking for ownership and support on how Axle represents itself externally - to our prospects, clients, investors and potential employees.\nWhat you will be doing:\nUnderstanding user problems and designing great experiences to solve them\n\nBuilding the systems that allow for strategic and scalable solutions - in Claude and code - to allow everybody to ship beautiful software, faster\n\nDeepening our culture of user research and getting into the weeds of how people experience Axle's products, both B2C and B2B2C\n\nLeading on our visual identity and finding new ways to tell Axle's story, through web, animation, and video\n\nWorking with global clients to help them to improve their user experiences\n\nThis could be a good fit if:\nYou're energised by ambiguity and take a pragmatic, outcome-first approach\n\nYou’re excited about bringing sophisticated technology to a broader audience and are happy to get into the technical details to do this\n\nYou’re deeply curious about the world and how people experience it\n\nYou have a strong aesthetic sense and know what good looks like.\n\nWhat's in it for you:\nA meaningful slice of equity in Axle, alongside a competitive salary, with total compensation ranging from £75k-£200k (base salary + equity).\nWe operate with a deliberately flat structure and aim to keep pay equitable across the company, with a 1:1 median ratio between founder and team compensation.\nEnhanced parental leave to support you through life's meaningful moments.\nBi-annual retreats to strengthen team connection & shared purpose.\nHybrid working - We have a dog-friendly office around Farringdon. To maximize collaboration, we ask that you spend 2-3 days a week in the office.\nThe opportunity to directly shape the future of energy markets and accelerate the transition to a low-carbon world.\nWe are extremely keen to build a diverse company, and we’re particularly eager to hear from candidates who don't fit the traditional role stereotypes. If you’re motivated by our mission, please do reach out, even if you feel you might not ‘check all the boxes’.\nInterview process\nInitial interview\n\nDeep dive on a project of your choice (in-person)\n\nFinal interview (in-person)\n\nOffer, references, and welcome to the team!","description_format":"text","description_chars":3702,"description_truncated":false,"requirements":{"experience_years_min":null,"management_years_min":null,"team_size_min":null,"manages_managers":false,"education":null,"security_clearance":false,"languages":[]},"benefits":["Equity","Hybrid work","Parental leave"],"hiring_locations":[{"name":"United Kingdom","iso":"GB","kind":"country"}],"hiring_excludes":[],"relocation_offered":false,"industries":["Energy & Utilities","Energy Management"],"lifecycle":[{"event":"open","at":"2026-09-15T19:52:59Z"}],"visa":[{"country":"GB","licensed_sponsor":true,"evidence":"Licensed UK visa sponsor (Skilled Worker)","filings_12m":null,"filings_prev_12m":null,"green_card_filings_12m":null,"median_offered_wage_usd":null,"route":"Skilled Worker","cap_exempt":false,"checked_at":"2026-10-15T06:21:15+00:00","sources":["UK Home Office: register of licensed sponsors (workers)"],"filings_for_role_12m":0}],"liveness":{"score":13,"band":"cold","label":"Long shot","p_open":1,"p_active":0.374,"p_room":0.35,"age_days":30,"expected_fill_days":11,"reasons":["conf:2","velocity","win:tail"],"computed_at":"2026-10-15T05:46:00Z"},"pay":{"stated_usd_annual":264857,"is_top_pay":true},"html_url":"https://alion.io/job/axle-product-design-3","json_url":"https://alion.io/job/axle-product-design-3.json","meta":{"generated_at":"2026-10-15T19:03:57Z","cache_seconds":300,"methodology":"https://alion.io/methodology","terms":"https://alion.io/terms","contact":"https://alion.io/contact","api":"https://alion.io/developers","about":"Alion is a live layer of people, companies and AI agents: who they are, whether they are real and active right now, what they do and how to work with them, readable by people and by agents and paid per call.","catalog":"https://alion.io/catalog.json","usage":{"tier":"crawler_verified","counted_by":"address","units_charged":1,"used_today":28885,"day_limit":null,"remaining_today":null,"minute_limit":300,"resets_at":"2026-10-16T00:00:00Z"}},"offers":[{"id":"company.slices","title":"One company in depth, by slice","status":"live","price":{"credits":0.02,"usd":0.002,"plus_per_slice":{"credits":0.05,"usd":0.005}},"unit":"per company, plus each slice with data","note":"the employer in depth","call":{"mcp_tool":"get_company","arguments":{"id":33617},"rest":"https://alion.io/mcp/rest/get_company?id=33617"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=company.slices&for=job%2Faxle-product-design-3"},{"id":"market.stats","title":"A market slice: pay, demand and time to fill","status":"live","price":{"credits":1,"usd":0.1},"unit":"per slice","note":"pay, demand and time to fill for this role and place","call":{"mcp_tool":"market_stats"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=market.stats&for=job%2Faxle-product-design-3"},{"id":"job.search","title":"Open jobs by role, technology, place, pay and visa","status":"live","price":{"credits":0.02,"usd":0.002},"unit":"per posting in a list","note":"similar open postings","call":{"mcp_tool":"search_jobs"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=job.search&for=job%2Faxle-product-design-3"},{"id":"company.verify","title":"Is this company real and active right now","status":"pilot","price":null,"unit":"per company","request":{"url":"https://alion.io/catalog/request","method":"POST","body":"{\"offer\": \"company.verify\", \"for\": \"job/axle-product-design-3\", \"note\": \"what you need it for\"}"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=company.verify&for=job%2Faxle-product-design-3"}]}
