We control hundreds of thousands of energy assets.\nWe’re building in a legacy industry and moving gigawatt-hours of electrons in the real world, but we operate at lightning speed, and we’re growing the team to meet customer demand.\nWe’re proud to be supported by world-leading investors, including Energize Capital and Accel.\nRead more about what we’re building here.\nAbout the role\nSolutions Engineers at Axle build the integrations and technical infrastructure that enable our customers to connect distributed energy devices, orchestrate them, and participate in electricity markets.\nThis is a generalist engineering role, encompassing core software engineering, customer implementation, and solution design. You will work closely with our customers to understand their technical requirements, build integrations, solve complex technical challenges, and help shape our product based on real world feedback.\nWe encourage engineers to own as much of the problem space as they can. You will spend time talking to customers, getting feedback from users, and working closely with market operators, while collaborating with Product to deliver scalable engineering solutions.\nAt Axle, we work in a deliberately flat structure. That means fewer layers, faster decisions, and more ownership for everyone.\nSolutions Engineering at Axle looks like\nForming a deep understanding of our domain, our platform, and our customers' technical challenges, so you have enough context to execute at speed.\n\nBuilding and maintaining integrations with customer systems, distributed energy devices, and third-party platforms.\n\nWorking closely with customers to troubleshoot technical issues, support implementations, and design scalable solutions.\n\nSteering customers towards a more direct launch plan and a better user experience.\n\nCollaborating closely with our Product team to turn customer feedback into product improvements.\n\nFocus on outcomes rather than process, taking ownership of the quality and impact of the final product you deliver.\n\nManage your own time and support others to adapt to changing scope and deadlines, to deliver 80% of the value in 20% of the time\n\nTech stack\nWe build in Python + React for the frontend\nEverything we build lives in Docker, for minimal cross-platform faff and maximal reproducibility.\nUnlimited Claude Code tokens - we are aggressive users and explorers of AI, and encourage everybody to reconsider their workflows regularly\nWe deploy on GCP\nWhat's in it for you\nA meaningful slice of equity in Axle, alongside a competitive salary, with total compensation ranging from £75k-£200k (base salary + equity).\nWe operate with a deliberately flat structure and aim to keep pay equitable across the company, with a 1:1 median ratio between founder and team compensation.\nEnhanced parental leave to support you through life's meaningful moments.\nBi-annual retreats to strengthen team connection & shared purpose.\nHybrid working - We have a dog-friendly office around Farringdon.
