The role supports established experimental procedures, electrophysiological and multi-electrode recordings, collection and analysis of research data, maintenance of research records and equipment, and communication of experimental results. The Scientist will also provide technical support and training to laboratory staff.\nEducation and Experience\nMaster's degree in a related discipline and three years of experience.\nField of study: Biology.\nSoftware\nMicrosoft Office\nSkills\nData presentation\nDeliverables\nProduce work products and documentation associated with established experimental procedures and ongoing electrophysiological and multi-electrode recording studies \nPrepare research data and analyses associated with ongoing laboratory studies, including organized datasets and figures \nPrepare scientific summaries, reports, presentations, figures, and related documentation describing experimental methods and results \nPrepare documentation and technical support materials associated with laboratory equipment, recording methods, and established research techniques \nStatement of Work Details\nConduct experiments using established laboratory protocols and procedures, including multi-electrode recording methods.\nPerform electrophysiological recordings in support of ongoing research studies.\nPerform both slice recordings and in vivo whole-animal recordings.\nPerform electrical recordings in response to optogenetically induced light stimulation.\nSupport ongoing research involving sensory coding and neural plasticity in the mammalian olfactory bulb.\nProvide technical support to laboratory staff using multi-electrode recording methods and related experimental techniques.\nMaintain and update laboratory notebooks and databases.\nMaintain equipment associated with electrophysiological recording procedures.\nManage scientific equipment and resources, including acquisition, documentation, and storage of reagents, frozen cell stocks, and animal samples.\nAnalyze data generated from ongoing multi-electrode recording studies using established analytical approaches.\nOrganize study data and prepare figures appropriate for publication.\nPrepare summaries, reports, presentations, and other documentation describing experimental methods and results.\nTrain and support staff in multi-electrode recording methods.\nDisclaimer: The above description is meant to illustrate the general nature of work and level of effort being performed by individuals assigned to this position or job description.
