The Scientist will plan and execute research experiments, including malaria entomology research, and will develop new techniques and protocols. The role also involves collaborating with internal, external, and international research teams to apply and transfer research results. A Bachelor's degree in a science-related field is required, along with at least five years of laboratory experience performing entomology research, culturing malaria parasites, and operating an insectary. Candidates must also have a minimum of five years of related experience rearing and infecting mosquitoes and performing direct skin feeding assays. Experience with recombinant protein expression and purification is required. \nField of Study\nScience-related field\nBackground in biology, chemistry, and/or biophysics\nSoftware\nMicrosoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Teams, and SharePoint\nSkills\nLaboratory experience performing entomology research, culturing malaria parasites, and operating an insectary\nExperience rearing mosquitoes, infecting mosquitoes, and performing direct skin feeding assays\nExcellent documentation and communication skills\nBasic computer skills\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience with recombinant protein expression and purification - Required\nDeliverables\nMonthly status reports covering current and completed activities, problems encountered, corrective actions taken, recommendations for the next reporting period, and hours worked - Monthly\nStatus reports to assess progress - As requested by the Task Leader\nStatement of Work Details\nPlan and execute research experiments, including malaria entomology research experiments, in the context of the laboratory's overall research program.\nAssist the Federal Task Leader (FTL) and other laboratory and entomology staff on research projects and techniques, including malaria entomology research.\nAnalyze and interpret research data, and communicate results and methods in reports and manuscripts.\nCollaborate with industry, academia, and internal and external NIH research teams to apply and transfer the results of research, including malaria entomology research data.\nDevelop new techniques, products, practices, procedures, and research protocols, including new malaria entomology techniques.\nOrganize entomology data and reports of malaria entomology research findings, and communicate information with entomology teams.\nCreate new entomology research protocols and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).\nAssist with budget reports, track supplies and sample shipments, schedule activities, and track sample inventories with international research teams working with the research program.\nThe diversity of Axle’s employees is a tremendous asset.
