The mission as the Mechanical Sourcing Engineer is to build a world-class mechanical supplier network for our products that can ensure continuity of supply, scale to support demand, provide cost reduction and anticipates and mitigates supply chain risks. You will work throughout the product development lifecycle executing strategic projects to optimize commodities, subcommodities and individual suppliers; executing detailed projects with suppliers to implement changes and improvements affecting quality, cost, capacity, risk, and subsupplier management and to launch new products.\nWhat You’ll Do\nLocation: Onsite at our Scottsdale, Arizona office 4-5 days a week, and on the road 20% of time\nReports to: Senior Manager, Strategic Sourcing\nDirect Reports: none, must lead functional peer organizations via influence\nProactively communicate with the design engineering teams prior to and during the NPI development process to understand their current & future needs for new product components; influencing by leveraging industry experience.\nWork with the Mechanical Category managers on sourcing decisions that are aligned with their strategies. Provide the tools, methodologies, techniques, and technical insight to drive intelligent sourcing of mechanical products.\nSeek cross-functional team agreement on discrepancies.\nEstablish strong relationships with manufacturers and their associated representatives to understand product roadmaps and availability to support future product development.\nCollaborate with suppliers, engineering and quality for DFM on new products\nWork with the sourcing team to develop and ramp component sources for new products and support the NPI purchasing team’s efforts to ensure components are purchased in a timely manner for the different engineering builds.\nAssist the respective category managers and cross-functional category teams in developing and executing multidimensional commodity strategies that support the NPI work stream with an emphasis on cost optimization, time to market, technology, quality, supply continuity, supply chain consolidation, service and risk mitigation.\nSupport negotiations of Axon pricing at the component level for mechanical commodities; partnering with the category managers to develop and execute negotiation strategies with new product suppliers to achieve specific targets for pricing, service, quality & delivery.\nEnsure supplier awards for new business are leveraged in pricing negotiations.\nIdentify and manage the implementation of cost reduction opportunities on new and existing products in collaboration with the category management and continuous engineering teams.\nIdentify risks in our current supply chain and work together with the mechanical category manager and continuous engineering team and component engineer to qualify additional sources of supply for critical components on our BOM’s. Lead teams in identification of risks/hazards relative to new product designs, processes, suppliers, and applications.\nAssist the mechanical category manager & Legal teams in negotiating and executing optimal contract terms with key new suppliers.\nParticipate in the supplier selection process and ensure supplier selections are based on sound selection criteria for new product introduction activities to select the right supplier for the part, considering long term fit and total cost of ownership.\nParticipate in periodic business reviews with key suppliers to review supplier performance on new product programs\nOwn the development and maintenance of the approved manufacturer’s list.\nWhat You Bring\nBS in Mechanical Engineering, Supply Chain or related field.\nMinimum of three (3) years of experience in supply chain, technical sourcing, and/or engineering.\nWork experience in a new product introduction (NPI) sourcing environment is preferred.\nExperience with a high mix/low volume procurement environment is preferred.\nAbility to work on multiple cross functional projects simultaneously.\nAbility to develop strong relationships with key stakeholders to drive proper rigor in supplier selection process.\nSelf-motivation and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.\nAbility to manage rapid changes typical during the NPI development process.\nSkilled at pricing and terms & conditions negotiations.\nStrong proficiency in Google/Microsoft Office software packages.\nExcellent communicator, ability to lead in an environment of in-direct control.\nCommunicates effectively in a dynamic, multidisciplinary team environment to meet internal and external customer demands.\nExcellent analytic and problem-solving skills.\nAbility to lead and influence change in the face of complexity and ambiguity.\nProficient with managing and understanding cross-cultural business practices, especially within Asia.\nLocated or willing to relocate to Scottsdale, AZ.\nAbility to influence without authority, create win/win situations, and produce results.\nAbility to read and interpret engineering drawings, product specifications, procedures and standard.\nBenefits that Benefit You\nCompetitive salary and 401k with employer match\nDiscretionary paid time off\nPaid parental leave for all\nMedical, Dental, Vision plans\nFitness Programs\nEmotional & Mental Wellness support\nLearning & Development programs\nAnd yes, we have snacks in our offices\nBenefits listed herein may vary depending on the nature of your employment and the location where you work.\nDon’t meet every single requirement?
