The work involves processing large-scale geospatial datasets, building reliable data pipelines, and ensuring the accuracy and usability of location-based data for production use.\nThe role will also contribute to improving how geospatial data is extracted, processed, and analyzed using GIS tools, Python, PySpark, SQL, and AWS.\nWhat you’ll do\nWork with large-scale geospatial datasets, including POIs, polygons, boundaries, roads, buildings, and other spatial datasets.\nUse QGIS or ArcGIS for spatial data visualization, analysis, editing, validation, and quality checks.\nExtract and process geospatial data from multiple sources and formats, preparing datasets for downstream processing and production use.\nDevelop and maintain ETL/data processing pipelines for geospatial data ingestion, transformation, enrichment, validation, and export.\nDevelop Python-based automation for GIS and data-processing workflows and use PySpark/Spark to efficiently process large-scale geospatial datasets.\nPerform spatial analysis and operations, including spatial joins, polygon and geometry operations, intersection/overlap analysis, spatial filtering, geospatial enrichment, and spatial indexing.\nWrite efficient SQL queries for data extraction, transformation, validation, and analysis, and work with geospatial formats such as Shapefile, GeoJSON, KML/KMZ, CSV, GeoPackage, and geodatabases.\nPerform data quality and validation checks across spatial data sources, inputs, and outputs, identifying issues such as invalid geometries, duplicate records, missing attributes, incorrect coordinates, and topology errors.\nWork with AWS and geospatial databases/data platforms to store, process, manage, and support large-scale datasets used by downstream applications.\nCollaborate with Data Analysts, Automation Specialists, Media, Account, and Solutions teams to support GIS-related requirements and integrate geospatial insights into broader analyses.\nSupport requests from internal teams by understanding requirements, communicating findings clearly, and escalating questions or issues when required.\nDocument data sources, assumptions, extraction methodologies, validation procedures, and data-processing workflows to ensure consistency and maintainability.\nWhat you Bring\nStrong hands-on experience with QGIS or ArcGIS, with a solid understanding of GIS concepts and spatial data processing.\nStrong Python, PySpark/Spark, and SQL skills for data processing, automation, analysis, and transformation.\nExperience building and maintaining ETL/data pipelines for geospatial data extraction, transformation, enrichment, and validation.\nExperience working with AWS and large-scale datasets, along with a good understanding of common geospatial formats such as Shapefile, GeoJSON, KML/KMZ, CSV, and GeoPackage.\nStrong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on data quality, accuracy, and following reliable QA processes.\nExperience with Apache Sedona/GeoSpark, PostGIS/PostgreSQL, GDAL/OGR, or similar geospatial technologies.\nFamiliarity with Elasticsearch/OpenSearch, spatial indexing, H3, REST APIs, or geospatial APIs.\nExperience working with large-scale POI/location intelligence datasets and geospatial geometry or topology validation.\nExperience with AWS S3, EMR, or similar large-scale data-processing environments.\nA continuous improvement mindset, with an interest in improving workflows, reducing manual effort, and standardizing repeatable processes.\nWillingness to learn, seek feedback, document processes, and contribute to knowledge sharing and consistent team execution.","description_format":"text","description_chars":4176,"description_truncated":false,"requirements":{"experience_years_min":null,"management_years_min":null,"team_size_min":null,"manages_managers":false,"education":null,"security_clearance":false,"languages":[]},"benefits":[],"hiring_locations":[],"hiring_excludes":[],"relocation_offered":false,"industries":["Data Providers & Datasets","Geospatial Analytics","Marketing Analytics & Attribution"],"lifecycle":[{"event":"open","at":"2026-09-24T12:38:20Z"}],"liveness":{"score":86,"band":"hot","label":"Hiring now","p_open":1,"p_active":0.86,"p_room":1,"age_days":0,"expected_fill_days":20,"reasons":["conf:4","win:early"],"computed_at":"2026-09-25T05:45:01Z"},"pay":null,"html_url":"https://alion.io/job/azira-gis-analyst-data-solutions","json_url":"https://alion.io/job/azira-gis-analyst-data-solutions.json","meta":{"generated_at":"2026-09-26T04:12:54Z","cache_seconds":300,"methodology":"https://alion.io/methodology","terms":"https://alion.io/terms","contact":"https://alion.io/contact","api":"https://alion.io/developers","usage":{"tier":"crawler","counted_by":"address","units_charged":1,"used_today":4597,"day_limit":5000,"remaining_today":403,"minute_limit":60,"resets_at":"2026-09-27T00:00:00Z"}}}
