Salary is dependent on location, role and qualifications.\nLocation: HM Naval Base Clyde, Scotland\nApplication closing date: 20 October 2026\nProgramme start date: September 2027\nRole ID: 74682\nWhat will you do on the programme?\nJoin our Electrical Engineering Graduate Programme and play your part in delivering some of the UK’s most impactful engineering projects.\nAt Babcock, you’ll support work across various stages of the engineering lifecycle - from technology innovation and concept design to production, commissioning, in-service support, and decommissioning.\nYou could be designing cutting-edge submarines, converting military vehicles, refurbishing ships, or advancing next-generation nuclear power plants that support the UK’s net-zero goals. You might also help build safer, more efficient rail networks.\nWhatever you’re working on, you’ll apply your engineering knowledge to meaningful projects, collaborating with experienced professionals to deliver innovative, high-quality solutions.\nHow is the programme structured?\nOver two years, you’ll rotate through placements every three to six months, giving you the chance to explore a variety of projects and teams. These rotations offer opportunities to broaden your experience - and some may even take you to different locations - helping you build your professional network and deepen your understanding of how the business operates.\nAlong the way, you’ll build a strong foundation in electrical, control and instrumentation engineering, while gradually taking on greater responsibilities, such as leading small teams and overseeing projects.\nAs you progress, you'll have the chance to align your placements with your interests and career goals, helping you build relevant experience in areas that matter most to you.\nHow do we develop and support you?\nFrom day one, you’ll receive structured support, personalised training, and dedicated mentorship to help you excel throughout your programme and beyond.\nYou’ll join our Graduate Development Programme, featuring expert-led masterclasses on communication, personal branding, resilience, and wellbeing.\nTo support your journey toward Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status, we offer full guidance and cover all associated fees.\nWhat’s waiting for you after the programme?\nOnce you complete the programme, you’ll move into a permanent role within our Engineering Function, where you can continue applying and expanding the skills you've developed. You’ll also have the opportunity to build on your progress toward professional registration, a recognised benchmark of engineering competence, which can support your journey into more advanced roles, such as Senior Engineer.\nAs a global organisation, Babcock provides countless opportunities to enhance your skills and advance your career. To support your growth, we've introduced the Babcock Role Framework, which outlines roles, career pathways, and development opportunities. With every job mapped to these frameworks, you’ll have a transparent view of the steps needed to reach Senior Engineer and beyond.\nWhat rewards and benefits will you get?\nWe want you to feel supported, valued and excited about what’s ahead. That’s why we offer a comprehensive package designed to support your development, your wellbeing and your life outside of work too.\nIn addition to a minimum starting salary of £35,000, you’ll benefit from:\nA minimum of 25 days of holiday plus bank holidays\nGenerous pension and employee share schemes\nFlexible benefits, including cycle to work scheme, discounts\nWellbeing support, covering mental, physical, financial, and social wellbeing, with services like our Employee Assistance Programme, digital GP service, and health checks.\nYou’ll also have the chance to get involved in our STEM outreach activities and volunteering opportunities.\nWhat do you need to apply?\nYou'll need to have achieved, or be on track to achieve, a BEng, MEng, BSc, or MSc in one of the following subjects: Electrical Engineering, Control & Instrumentation, Robotics, Mechatronics, Control Systems, Avionics, or Electronic. \nMany of our programmes are subject to Security Clearance and Trade Control restrictions which mean that your place of birth, nationality, citizenship, or residency you hold or have held may impact which programmes you are eligible for. For this programme, you must be able to achieve and maintain Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) and Security Check (SC) security clearance. For further details, visit GOV.UK and search ‘United Kingdom Security Vetting: clearance levels’.\nUnder applicable national security legislation, this post may only be occupied by a sole UK national. This legal requirement is independent of our recruitment policies, and all eligible applicants will be assessed fairly and without discrimination. \nWhere will you be based?\nPlaces on our Electrical Engineering programme for September 2027 are available at HM Naval Base Clyde in Scotland.\nAt HMNB Clyde, you'll be directly supporting the Royal Navy’s Vanguard and Astute-Class submarines. With a strong focus on nuclear engineering and infrastructure, this site gives you the chance to work on the systems that underpin the UK's continuous at-sea deterrent. Whether you’re working on routine maintenance, modernisation, or cutting-edge upgrades, you'll be right at the centre of a critical defence capability.\nWe offer agile working, giving you some flexibility, but you can expect to spend several days a week on-site as part of your role and development. By your start date, you must be able to reliably commute to the site. This will normally require living within a reasonable commuting distance of HM Naval Base Clyde or relocating before you join us.\nWhile you’ll join a specific business area and location, placements at different sites across the UK are possible. We encourage flexibility and openness to relocation throughout the programme and will consider your personal circumstances when arranging placements.\nApplication process and important information\nApplications are reviewed in the order they are received, and if there’s a high level of interest in this programme, we may close applications earlier than advertised. To give yourself the best chance of being considered, we recommend submitting your application and completing any required online assessments as soon as possible.\nPlease apply to one programme only. If we receive more than one application from you, we’ll assess the first one submitted. If your chosen programme becomes oversubscribed, we may contact you to discuss other programmes you could be eligible for.\nWe're a Disability Confident Employer. If you require additional support or adjustments during the recruitment process, please let us know when you apply. Our team will contact you after receiving your application to discuss your requirements and the support available.\nWe’re committed to building an inclusive culture where everyone’s free to thrive. We are happy to talk about flexible working - please ask about alternative patterns of work at interview.","description_format":"text","description_chars":7199,"description_truncated":false,"requirements":{"experience_years_min":null,"management_years_min":null,"team_size_min":null,"manages_managers":false,"education":{"level":"master","optional":false},"security_clearance":false,"languages":[]},"benefits":["Flexible schedule"],"hiring_locations":[],"hiring_excludes":[],"relocation_offered":true,"industries":["Electrical & Electronic Engineering","Engineering Services"],"lifecycle":[{"event":"open","at":"2026-10-11T05:12:04Z"}],"visa":[{"country":"GB","licensed_sponsor":true,"evidence":"Licensed UK visa sponsor (Senior or Specialist Worker, Skilled Worker)","filings_12m":null,"filings_prev_12m":null,"green_card_filings_12m":null,"median_offered_wage_usd":null,"route":"Global Business Mobility: Senior or Specialist Worker; Skilled Worker","cap_exempt":false,"checked_at":"2026-10-23T06:21:00+00:00","sources":["UK Home Office: register of licensed sponsors (workers)"],"filings_for_role_12m":0}],"liveness":{"score":16,"band":"cold","label":"Long shot","p_open":1,"p_active":0.442,"p_room":0.36,"age_days":30,"expected_fill_days":16,"reasons":["conf:4","velocity","win:tail","crowd:junior,brand"],"computed_at":"2026-10-23T05:54:15Z"},"pay":{"stated_usd_annual":46322,"is_top_pay":false},"html_url":"https://alion.io/job/babcock-international-electrical-engineering-graduate-programme-2","json_url":"https://alion.io/job/babcock-international-electrical-engineering-graduate-programme-2.json","meta":{"generated_at":"2026-10-24T03:46:46Z","cache_seconds":300,"methodology":"https://alion.io/methodology","terms":"https://alion.io/terms","contact":"https://alion.io/contact","api":"https://alion.io/developers","about":"Alion is a live layer of people, companies and AI agents: who they are, whether they are real and active right now, what they do and how to work with them, readable by people and by agents and paid per call.","catalog":"https://alion.io/catalog.json","usage":{"tier":"crawler_verified","counted_by":"address","units_charged":1,"used_today":5966,"day_limit":null,"remaining_today":null,"minute_limit":300,"resets_at":"2026-10-25T00:00:00Z"}},"offers":[{"id":"company.slices","title":"One company in depth, by slice","status":"live","price":{"credits":0.02,"usd":0.002,"plus_per_slice":{"credits":0.05,"usd":0.005}},"unit":"per company, plus each slice with data","note":"the employer in depth","call":{"mcp_tool":"get_company","arguments":{"id":172093},"rest":"https://alion.io/mcp/rest/get_company?id=172093"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=company.slices&for=job%2Fbabcock-international-electrical-engineering-graduate-programme-2"},{"id":"market.stats","title":"A market slice: pay, demand and time to fill","status":"live","price":{"credits":1,"usd":0.1},"unit":"per slice","note":"pay, demand and time to fill for this role and place","call":{"mcp_tool":"market_stats"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=market.stats&for=job%2Fbabcock-international-electrical-engineering-graduate-programme-2"},{"id":"job.search","title":"Open jobs by role, technology, place, pay and visa","status":"live","price":{"credits":0.02,"usd":0.002},"unit":"per posting in a list","note":"similar open postings","call":{"mcp_tool":"search_jobs"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=job.search&for=job%2Fbabcock-international-electrical-engineering-graduate-programme-2"},{"id":"company.verify","title":"Is this company real and active right now","status":"pilot","price":null,"unit":"per company","request":{"url":"https://alion.io/catalog/request","method":"POST","body":"{\"offer\": \"company.verify\", \"for\": \"job/babcock-international-electrical-engineering-graduate-programme-2\", \"note\": \"what you need it for\"}"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=company.verify&for=job%2Fbabcock-international-electrical-engineering-graduate-programme-2"}]}
