This is an exciting opportunity to work on innovative engineering solutions that support the maintenance, refit and operational readiness of Royal Navy submarines.\nDay-to-day, you’ll play a key role in the design and development of temporary mechanical equipment that interfaces with submarine reactor plant fluid systems. Working within a highly regulated environment, you'll contribute to projects that have a direct impact on national defence while developing your technical expertise across the full engineering lifecycle. This role offers the chance to solve complex engineering challenges, influence technical decision-making, and build a rewarding career within one of the UK's leading defence and engineering organisations.\nProducing engineering designs, technical documentation and assessments to support complex engineering projects\nDeveloping mechanical engineering solutions throughout the design lifecycle, from concept through to implementation\nProviding technical advice and guidance to ensure compliance with engineering standards, legislation and regulatory requirements\nSupporting design reviews, hazard studies and engineering analysis activities\nCollaborating with multidisciplinary engineering teams to deliver high-quality outputs to programme schedules and budgets\nThis role is full time, 35 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements.\nEssential experience of the Mechanical Engineer\nUnderstanding of mechanical engineering principles, particularly within fluid systems, pressure systems or materials engineering\nKnowledge of engineering design lifecycles and associated design processes\nAwareness of engineering legislation, standards and regulatory requirements within a regulated industry\nExperience producing technical engineering deliverables and supporting engineering design activities\nStrong problem-solving, communication and organisational skills\nQualifications for the Mechanical Engineer\nEssential:\nHNC or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline\nDesirable:\nFurther engineering qualifications or progress towards professional registration\nExperience with computer-aided design, engineering analysis or fluid systems design\nSecurity Clearance\nThe successful candidate must be a sole UK National who is able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) / Naval Nuclear Propulsion Information (NNPPI) / Developed Vetting (DV) / Counter Terrorist Check (CTC) security clearance for this role.\nMany of the positions within our company are subject to national security clearance and Trade Control restrictions.
