You’ll be trusted to play your part in delivering the advanced, technology-led defence, aerospace and security solutions of tomorrow, shaping a safer future, for all of us.\nFrom the depths of the ocean, to the far reaches of space, there’s no limit to where a career at BAE Systems could take you.\nJob Description:\nWe are seeking a Capability Development Engineer to join the Digital Engineering Electrical Systems Pillar, supporting the capability development for the Global Combat Air Programme (GCAP).\nThe roleis focused on the development of electrical Power Managementcapability, specifically the modelling, development, and validation of controllogicand monitoring functions using AmeSim and MATLAB Simulink/Simscape Electrical.\nYou will be responsible for developing dynamic models for power generation, conversion, distribution, and load managementsystems, alongside the associated controlstrategies that ensure safe, reliable, and optimised operation across all flight and mission phases.\nCore duties:\nSupporting the Electrical Systems team to develop and deploy the electrical Power Managementengineering capability\nDevelop and maintain reusable modelling frameworks for electrical power managementin Amesim and/or MATLAB Simulink/Simscape Electrical\nDevelop reusable libraries representing power generation, conversion, distribution, load management, and protection behaviours\nDefine structured approaches for modelling controllogic, monitoring, fault detection, and reconfiguration strategies\nEnsure alignment and compatibility between Amesim/Simscape Electrical plant models and Simulink controlmodels\nProduce technical guidance and support engineering teams using the capability\nIdentify opportunities for automation, model templating, and efficiency improvements\nYour Skills and Experience:\nA degree in a STEM subject or equivalent relevant experience\nConsiderable experience using MATLAB Simulink for controlsystem development\nExperience modelling electrical or electromechanical systems using Simscape Electrical and/or AmeSim\nUnderstanding of electrical power system controland monitoring principles\nThe Digital Engineering Electrical Systems team:\nWorking within a highly integrated and safety-critical environment, the Digital Engineering Electrical Systems team contribute to the definition of intelligent power control, system protection strategies, failure detection and reconfiguration logic, and performance monitoring frameworks.
