BAE Systems' Digital Architecture Team (DAT) is looking to hire a Data Analytics Engineer II to join our team. We are responsible for transitioning Engineering and Operations from legacy software and infrastructure to modern digital practices. \nOur core product is data. Engineering and Operations produce a large volume and wide variety of data. In this role, you will help turn that data into trusted, analytics-ready information by developing data models and transformations, improving data quality, and partnering with customers to understand their needs and issues. Our system spans both modern cloud-based solutions and legacy Windows-based infrastructure. \nOur team built a highly scalable containerized gRPC microservices platform and micro-frontends web applications. We need your help ensuring that data is collected, transformed, validated, documented, and made available for our end customers. You will collaborate with software engineers, analysts, and stakeholders to deliver reliable data products and continuously improve the way our customers use data. \nKey Responsibilities: \nCollaborate with engineers, analysts, and stakeholders to understand data needs and define clear analytics requirements.\nBuild, maintain, and troubleshoot data pipelines and transformations that produce reliable, analytics-ready data.\nDevelop and maintain data models, schemas, metric definitions, and documentation for reporting and analysis.\nImplement data validation and quality checks, investigate anomalies, and communicate issues and recommended actions.\nIntegrate data from APIs, operational systems, data lakes, and data warehouses while maintaining appropriate data governance.\nMonitor pipeline performance and reliability, participate in code reviews, and contribute to continuous process improvement.\n\nRequired Education, Experience, & Skills \nBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, or a related field, plus at least 2 years of professional experience in data engineering, analytics engineering, software development, or a related role; or\nMaster's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, or a related field. No minimum professional experience is required for candidates with a qualifying master's degree.\nExperience building, maintaining, and troubleshooting data pipelines, transformations, or data integrations.\nExperience transforming raw data into clean, structured, and modeled data.\nAbility to improve data quality and efficiency, optimize data structures and pipelines for analysis, monitor pipeline reliability, interpret complex data, spot trends, and provide actionable insights.\nExperience developing data models, schemas, validation checks, and documentation that support reporting and analytics.\nWorking understanding of SQLAlchemy, Postgres, PgAdmin, and Postgres extensions.\nProficient in non-code-heavy data visualization tools like Tableau, Power BI or Excel.\nAbility to translate stakeholder questions into clear metrics, datasets, and analytics-ready data products.\nComfort participating in code reviews and applying detail-oriented practices that improve quality, consistency, and maintainability.\nUnderstanding of software configuration management, version control, and repeatable deployment practices.\nAbility to monitor, troubleshoot, and communicate data quality or production issues, escalating when appropriate.\nStrong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.\nStrong communication and teamwork abilities, including the ability to explain technical concepts to nontechnical stakeholders.\nAbility to eliminate bottlenecks and bridge teams by serving as the translator between technical infrastructure teams and business-facing analysts.\nComfortable working in a fast-paced, startup-like environment.\nAbility to work in an Agile/Scrum development process.\nAbility to work independently while contributing effectively as part of a team.\nActive Secret clearance required.\n\nPreferred Education, Experience, & Skills \nExperience using GitLab and CI/CD pipelines in a collaborative development environment.\nUnderstand how to build and optimize ETL processes and data storage.\nProficiency in SQL and Python; familiarity with PostgreSQL and relational data modeling.\nWork with APIs, data lakes, and data warehouses to integrate and store data efficiently.\nWorking understanding of SQLAlchemy, Postgres, PgAdmin, and Postgres extensions.\nExperience with Grafana, Prometheus, MinIO, GitLab runners, or similar data and observability tools.\nExperience designing or supporting scalable data solutions in a Kubernetes environment.\nExperience with data visualization, business intelligence, semantic models, or metric definitions.\nUnderstanding production environments and experience communicating data issues, priorities, and tradeoffs to stakeholders or management.\nExperience working with a wide variety of data structures and integrating custom and commercial systems.\nLanguages: Python, SQL, C#, Bash\nData Processing & Analytics: Pandas, NumPy, dbt (Data Build Tool), Dagster\nData Visualization & BI: Tableau, Power BI, Metabase\nDatabases & Warehouses: PostgreSQL, DuckDB, Redis\nDevOps & Containerization: Docker, Git, Gitlab CI/CD Pipelines\n\nPay Information\nFull-Time Salary Range: $79365 - $134921\nPlease note: This range is based on our market pay structures.
