You will act as a trusted technical authority, supporting one of Australia’s most significant Defence capabilities while working alongside highly skilled engineers and stakeholders.\nWorking across a broad range of electrical systems, you will investigate technical issues, assess risks, recommend solutions and provide specialist engineering guidance that supports the ongoing performance and reliability of Jindalee Operational Radar Network (JORN).\nCore Duties:\nAssess electrical system issues and determine effective technical solutions\nProvide technical authority across electrical power and infrastructure systems\nLead investigations into equipment failures and recommend corrective actions\nReview electrical engineering solutions supporting sustainment activities\nSupport concept design development and electrical system upgrade initiatives\nMentor engineers and provide specialist technical guidance\nEngage customers, suppliers and stakeholders on complex technical matters\nIdentify opportunities to improve reliability, performance and system availability\nDevelop and improve products, components and electrical systems across multidisciplinary teams\nConduct technical reviews, engineering analysis, risk assessments, HAZOPs and Safety in Design (SiD) activities\nAnalyse performance and lead design improvements to optimise reliability, material selection, quality and cost.\nAbout You:\nYou are a collaborative and technically strong Electrical Engineer who can work independently while building trusted relationships across diverse stakeholder groups.\nYou will bring:\nDegree qualifications in Electrical Engineering\nChartered Engineer status or ability to obtain Chartership highly regarded\nExtensive electrical engineering experience in power, infrastructure or industrial environments.\nExperience with HV/LV systems, switchgear, generators, protection and distribution networks - systems thinking\nKnowledge of electrical compliance, standards, safety and regulatory frameworks\nExperience delivering reliable, maintainable and manufacturable electrical system designs\nExperience with PLC, SCADA, BMS, solar and battery energy systems\nStrong technical investigation, root cause analysis and systems thinking skills\nAbility to review engineering solutions and provide technical leadership.\nStrong stakeholder engagement and communication across multidisciplinary teams\nAbility to work across multiple locations with occasional interstate travel\nExperience within Defence, critical infrastructure utilities, energy, resources or other highly regulated industries will be highly regarded.\nJORN - Jindalee Operational Radar Network\nThe Jindalee Operation Radar Network (JORN) is a world leading Defence capability providing wide area surveillance across Australia’s northern approaches.\nSupporting the Australian Defence Force, JORN plays a critical role in Australia’s national security and border protection operations.
