You’ll be trusted to play your part in delivering the advanced, technology-led defence, aerospace and security solutions of tomorrow, shaping a safer future, for all of us.\nFrom the depths of the ocean, to the far reaches of space, there’s no limit to where a career at BAE Systems could take you.\nJob Description:\nAs a Steelwork Welding Inspector - you will join a team of to conduct inspections in line with Inspection Test Plans and Inspection Test Records, ensuring all welding, hotwork and steelwork activities meet required standards and are fully documented including surface and sub surface inspections. You will assess results against drawings and specifications, maintain accurate records, issue timely reports, and managenon-conformances through established processes. You will apply quality tools to support continuous improvement, assist with investigations, audits, and process confirmations, and liaise with third party auditors and customers, including Lloyd’s Register, to ensure compliance and resolve issues effectively.\nCore Duties:\nCarryout daily hot work, steelwork and weld inspections, including NDT activities, ensuring all work is completed in accordance with the Unit Build Strategy, project quality requirements and production schedules.\nAccurately document inspection results, record and report non-conformances and quality findings, and complete all final Quality Controldocumentation and certification sign-off in line with company procedures and regulatory standards.\nCommunicate quality concerns, technical queries and inspection findings promptly and effectively to key stakeholders, supporting timely resolution of issues and minimising impact to project delivery.\nShare Quality Controlknowledge, lessons learned and best practice across cross-functional teams, supporting continuous improvement, maintaining alignment between departments and driving quality standards throughout the project lifecycle.\nEssential Skills:\nCore trade qualification with a completed apprenticeship and time-served experience within shipbuilding, fabrication, welding, steelwork or a related heavy engineering discipline (ie - PCN Level 2 or equivalent NDT Certification/CSWIP 3.0 / 3.1)\nAbility to read and interpret hot work, weld and steelwork drawings, ensuring inspections are completed against engineering specifications and quality requirements.\nStrongunderstanding of quality control, weld inspection and fabrication standards, with the ability to identify defects, non-conformances and support corrective actions.\nProficient in the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel and Outlook), with the ability to accurately maintain inspection records, quality documentation and stakeholder communications.\nThe QualityControlTeam:\nJoin our fast pacedType26 Programme and become part of a wider skilled Quality Team of around 55 specialists across multiple inspection disciplines.
