From the depths of the ocean to the far reaches of space, there’s no limit to where a career at BAE Systems could take you.\nWhat you will be doing:\nIn this role, you’ll support the commissioning of first of class electrical power and distribution systems for the next generation Dreadnought submarines. You’ll work closely with Engineering, Build Operations, the Royal Navy and MOD to ensure all commissioning activities are delivered safely, compliantly and to the highest technical standards.\nCore duties:\nCarryout commissioning and testing activities with limited supervision in a high-risk environment\nLiaise with Engineering, Royal Navy, MOD and Build Operations teams to ensure activities are completed safely and compliantly\nResearch, author and review design and test documentation\nMaintain full and accurate records of all work activities in accordance with policy, procedure and legislation\nSupport and mentor less experienced team members within your area of expertise\nRepresent the company during Factory Acceptance Tests, offsite testing, contractor sea trials and other outworking activities, including potential overseas travel\nDeliver assigned activities in line with company policy, procedures and legislative requirements\nEssential Skills:\nKnowledge of AC and DC electrical generation and power distribution systems\nExperience working with electrical distribution systems, fire protection systems and electrical testing\nUnderstanding of instrumentation systems including Electrostatic Discharge, Low Voltage Control, Data Communications, PLCs and Fibre Optics\nKnowledge of safety controls and procedures within a high-risk environment\nAwareness of Nuclear Site Licence and Authorisation Conditions\nUnderstanding of how Test & Commissioning contributes to the wider business and UK defence enterprise\nThe Electrical Commissioning Team:\nJoin the Electrical Commissioning Team responsible for commissioning the first of class electrical power and distribution plant on the Dreadnought submarine programme. The Dreadnought Programme will deliver four SSBNs to the Royal Navy, supporting the UK’s Continuous At Sea Deterrence (CASD) capability.
