From the depths of the ocean to the far reaches of space, there’s no limit to where a career at BAE Systems could take you.\nWhat you will be doing:\nAs a Senior Commissioning Engineer - Mechanical, you’ll play a key role in delivering the testing and commissioning of mechanical systems on the Dreadnought submarine programme. Working within a high-risk engineering environment, you’ll be responsible for producing and reviewing technical documentation, ensuring commissioning activities are carried out safely and in compliance with relevant standards and legislation. You’ll collaborate with engineering teams, the Royal Navy, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) and Build Operations, while sharing your knowledge and mentoring less experienced colleagues to support the successful delivery of complexsubmarine systems.\nCore duties:\nSafely carryout routine commissioning activities with limited supervision, understanding the safety implications of working in a high-risk environment\nGenerate Test and Commissioning documentation for mechanical systems\nLiaise with Engineering, the Royal Navy, the MoD and Build Operations to ensure activities are completed safely and in compliance with relevant requirements\nInstruct and mentor less experienced team members within your knowledge and competency\nResearch, author and review design and test documentation to the required standards\nDeliver assigned activities in accordance with company policies, procedures and applicable legislation\nEssential Skills:\nHNC in Mechanical Engineering\nKnowledge of mechanical system operation, ideally including hydraulic systems, pressurised air and gas, domestic and chilled water systems, and tank testing\nExperience commissioning complexsystems and plant\nKnowledge of test equipment and the activities required to carryout specific tests\nUnderstanding of mechanical flushing, pressure and endurance testing, and setting systems to work\nKnowledge of safety controlsand procedures within a high-risk engineering environment\nThe Tech Cell Mechanical Team:\nAs part of the Tech Cell Mechanical team, you’ll have the opportunity to work on a first-in-class submarine through the Dreadnought project, one of the UK’s biggest and most complexengineering programmes. You’ll contribute directly to the testing and commissioning of critical mechanical systems, helping ensure they meet the required safety, performance and compliance standards.
