From the depths of the ocean to the far reaches of space, there’s no limit to where a career at BAE Systems could take you.\nWhat you will be doing:\nIn this role, you will support the commissioning, testing, and acceptance of propulsion mechanical systems aboard the Dreadnought Class submarines. Working within a highly regulated and safety-critical environment, you will ensure mechanical systems are installed, tested, and brought into service safely, compliantly, and in accordance with design requirements.\nCore duties:\nPerform routine work with limited supervision & have an understanding of safety consequences in a high risk environment\nLiaise/Interface with relevant stakeholders i.e. Engineering, Royal Navy, MoD & Build Operations to ensure activities are undertaken in a safe & compliant manner\nInstruct & mentor less experienced members of the team within your knowledge & competency\nResponsible for researching, authoring & reviewing of design and test documentation to the required standard\nKeep full and accurate records of work activities carried out as required by policy, procedure & legislation\nRepresent the Company on Factory Acceptance Tests and offsite test facilities, Contractors Sea Trials and other outworking requirements (with scope for Overseas travel)\nResponsible for delivering assigned activities in line with Company policy, procedures and legislation\nEssential Skills:\nKnowledge of mechanical system operation, ideally Steam and condensate systems, lubricating oil and cooling systems\nExperience with commissioning of complexheavy machinery plants e.g.diesels and turbo generators and steam turbine plants\nKnowledge of test equipment & activities required for specific tests\nAware of Nuclear Site/Authorisation Conditions\nUnderstanding of Mechanical Flushing and Pressure & Endurance Testing and setting to work of systems\nThe Propulsion Mechanical Commissioning Team:\nYou will be part of the team responsible for commissioning the secondary propulsion plant, on the first of class, next generation of Dreadnought submarines. The scope of the Dreadnought Programme is the delivery of four SSBNs to the Royal Navy to maintain Continuous At Sea Deterrence (CASD.
