What you’ll be doing :
In this role, you will provide internal consultancy to project teams on fatigue, durability and crack growth analysis. You will support Technical Review sessions with teams of engineers to ensure that they have sound engineering plans for the analysisto be undertaken, and will review and approve their analysesas part of the overall product qualification and approval process.
Core duties:
- Coordinate and supervise team activities
- Schedule work and monitor outputs
- Ensure quality standards are met
- Support performance managementand development
- Guide Structures Engineers on complexdesign, build, and repair issues
- Support development of new analysistechniques
- Drive improvements in analysismethods
Essential Skills:
- Previous experience managinga team, ideally in an Aerospace industry
- Degree in STEM or equivalent aerospace experience
- Experience in structural engineering, including sizing and fatigue/damage tolerance analysis
- Knowledge of structural analysis, fatigue, and fracture mechanics methods
- Experience with tools such as Nastran, Patran, Hypermesh, Abaqus
- Familiarity with optimisation, dynamics, vibration, and acoustics analysis
The Structures Engineering Team:
We support one of the biggest defence programmes in the World and have responsibility for improving the fatigue and fracture capability right across the Air Sector. BAE Systems designs, develops and supports a wide range of airborne platforms, operating across the World in some of the most demanding conditions imaginable. The Structures Engineer role will allow you to capture and consolidate hard-won knowledge from our fleets, and apply that to our current and emerging products to ensure that BAE Systems remains at the forefront of Structural innovation.
