You’ll be trusted to play your part in delivering the advanced, technology-led defence, aerospace and security solutions of tomorrow - shaping a safer future, for all of us.\nFrom the depths of the ocean, to the far reaches of space - there’s no limit to where a career at BAE Systems could take you.\nRole Description:\nWe have exciting opportunities for Welding Supervisors to join our Hunter Class Frigate Program based at SA-Osborne Naval Shipyard, reporting to the Structural Trade Manager.\nWe embrace flexible work arrangements at BAE Systems Australia, such as working a 9-day fortnight.\nAs the Welding Supervisor you will supervise Welding activities in the allocated workshop and ensure the Integrated Work Team schedule and trade performance norms by product requirements are being met. You will work with the Welding Engineering team and Dimension Control (DC) to manufacture the Hunter Class Frigate ship in line with the welding and DC strategies.\nSHIFT AVAILABILITY:\n2 x Afternoon Shift positions available\n1 x Night Shift position available\n1 x Day Shift position available\nCore Duties:\nSupervise Welding tradespeople and welding operators to ensure performance, Quality and Technical standards are maintained across the group\nFollow welding plans, manuals, drawings, sketches, matrixes, control processes and non-destructive testing plans for assigned activities\nEnsure compliance with welding procedures which guide production and welding personnel to ensure compliance with engineering design, stress analysis and equipment specifications\nConduct Root Cause Analysis of defective welds, review records and reports, develop weld repair strategies and engage with the Welding Technical Authority for the approval\nManage and maintain work orders in accordance with company requirements and procedures\nEnsure compliance with the Safety Health and Environment (SHE) Management System, mitigating risks and improving overall SHE performance\nEssential Skills:\nQualified through International Institute of Welding as an International Welding Specialist (IWS) or hold welding supervisor’s certification to either AS 1796 or AS 2214\nQualified through International Institute of Welding as an International Welding inspector (IWI-B or IWI-S) or hold welding inspection certification to another regulatory body (eg CSWIP)\nExperience in the supervision of large complex engineering and construction products related to materials, fabrication, welding, and inspection and testing\nDemonstrated good communication skills with ability to interact effectively with colleagues within and outside the immediate team\nA strong commitment to safe work practices\nExperience in the use of automated, mechanised, orbital and robotic welding equipment would be highly regarded.\nWhy BAE Systems?\nHere you’ll build a career with purpose and limitless possibilities.
