You’ll be trusted to play your part in delivering the advanced, technology-led defence, aerospace and security solutions of tomorrow - shaping a safer future, for all of us.\nFrom the depths of the ocean, to the far reaches of space - there’s no limit to where a career at BAE Systems could take you.\nRole Description:\nAs a Network Engineer reporting to the Infrastructure Operations Lead, you’ll play a key role in designing, implementing, and supporting the Osborne and the Hunter network infrastructure, with a strong focus on day-to-day operations and continuous improvement.\nCore Duties:\nMonitor network performance, availability, and capacity, proactively identifying and resolving issues\nTroubleshoot and resolve assigned support incidents, outages, and performance degradation\nConfigure and manage network hardware including routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points\nPerform network upgrades, patches, and changes in line with change management processes\nIdentify opportunities to enhance systems and processes, driving efficiency and technological innovation\nAssist in specifying, designing and implementing aspects of the WAN and LAN networks that meet or exceed industry standard best practices\nProvide network consultancy and assistance to customers, in the design, set to work & troubleshooting of networks & customer deliverables\nImplement and maintain network security controls including segmentation, access controls, firewall rules, policies, and best practices\nMaintain accurate network documentation, diagrams, and asset records\nEssential Skills:\nBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience + vendor certifications) preferred\nCritical thinking and analytical skills demonstrated through decision-making and problem solving\nSolid troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve network and connectivity issues\nSolid foundational knowledge of networking protocols and functions\nAbility to contribute to and thrive in a collaborative team environment\nExcellent communication skills in both verbal and written forms\nExperience with WAN, LAN, VPN and Wireless technologies\nExperience with various firewalls, knowledge of Palo Alto Firewalls is desirable\nExperience with Citrix NetScalers, VMWare NSX is desirable\nExperience with SDN, Cisco ACI, Cisco WLC, Cisco ISE and Cisco DNA Centre are desirable\nRelevant certifications (e.g. CCNA, Network+, or equivalent experience) desirable but not essential\nDefence security clearance (NV1) or eligibility to obtain\nEligibility to be cleared for International Traffic In Arms (ITAR) regulations\nThe Team\nHunter Class Frigate Program\nBAE Systems Australia is leading the largest ever surface ship project in Australia’s defence history - the design and build of Hunter class frigates.
