You’ll be trusted to play your part in delivering the advanced, technology-led defence, aerospace and security solutions of tomorrow, shaping a safer future, for all of us.\nFrom the depths of the ocean, to the far reaches of space, there’s no limit to where a career at BAE Systems could take you.\nRole description:\nAs a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will deliver key WTA (Warship Technical Authority) service elements across naval platform systems, including design change, technical assurance, material state and obsolescence management, specialist engineering support, and future support or transformation planning.\nCore duties:\nProviding advanced mechanical engineering support across diverse naval platform systems, equipment, and critical marine services\nClarify and manageplatform system requirements, working with internal teams and external stakeholders\nDelivering systems design integrity across varied engineering contexts, classes, and programme deployments\nDelivering investigations, impact assessments and integration analysesto enable evidence-based technical decisions\nDelivering safe, efficient implementation of design changes while maintaining configuration controland system integration\nMentoring engineers and driving engineering excellence within your projects\nEssential skills:\nExperienced Mechanical Engineer, IEng or equivalent, with progressing professional accreditation (e.g. IMechE)\nBroad knowledge of complexnaval platform systems, maritime defence standards and/or other highly regulated industries, (i.e. aviation, oil & gas and nuclear)\nAble to operate effectively within lifecycle management, governance, assurance and support frameworks\nProvenstakeholder engagement with MOD, navies, OEMs and industry partners; provides autonomousengineering delivery, guidance and engineer development\nExperience in at least two areas: mechanical systems design assurance, product lifecycle, requirements compliance, engineering documentation, CAD modelling/drawings, equipment design or maintenance, trials delivery (e.g. FATs), or safety case activities and documentation\nThe AssetManagement team:\nThis role sits within the Warship Technical Authority (WTA) Service Hub, part of the Asset Managementteam within Warship Support. The WTA delivers whole ship, systems and equipment engineering expertiseand change managementto ensure safe, assured and high-quality support across Warship Support programmes.
