We are seeking a motivated Software Engineer to join our growing Maritime team based in Tonsley. Reporting to the Software Engineering Manager, you will contribute to the development, support, and enhancement of software systems that underpin critical defence and maritime capabilities.\nWorking alongside experienced engineers, architects, and project teams, you will have the opportunity to build your technical expertise across modern technologies including JavaScript, TypeScript, Spring Boot, React, and PostgreSQL, while gaining valuable experience working on complex, real-world software solutions.\nIf you enjoy solving complex technical challenges, working in a highly collaborative environment, and contributing to meaningful projects with real-world impact, we’d love to hear from you.\nCore Duties:\nDevelop, maintain, and test software applications within an Agile delivery environment.\nSupport the investigation and resolution of software incidents and enhancement requests.\nWork closely with senior engineers to design, implement, and improve software solutions.\nParticipate in integration, testing, and deployment activities.\nContribute to code reviews and technical discussions while continuously developing your engineering skills.\nAssist in the preparation and maintenance of technical documentation.\nCollaborate with internal teams and customer stakeholders to support project delivery.\nSupport software releases and deployments, including occasional scheduled system checks.\nContribute to continuous improvement initiatives and engineering best practices.\nAbout YOU\nApproximately 3-5 years of commercial software development experience.\nTertiary qualification in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.\nExperience working with JavaScript, TypeScript, React, and/or Spring Boot.\nUnderstanding of modern web application development across front-end and back-end technologies.\nKnowledge of software development methodologies, coding standards, and design principles.\nExperience writing and maintaining unit tests.\nExperience working with PostgreSQL or other relational databases.\nStrong analytical and problem-solving skills.\nEffective verbal and written communication skills.\nA proactive attitude and willingness to learn from experienced team members\nApplicants must be Australian Citizens and be eligible to obtain and maintain an NV1 Security Clearance.\nWhy BAE Systems?\n Here you’ll build a career with purpose and limitless possibilities.
