We are looking for people ready to share, build, and grow with our company.\nReporting to the Technical Services Superintendent or designate, the Mine Engineer provides technical expertise to the operation across planning functions. The Mine Engineer performs short-range planning tasks (drill & blast design, prepares the weekly business plan, data analysis, etc.) to deliver planned quantity and quality of iron ore to the crusher safely and below budgeted cost.\nMain Accountabilities\nEnsure work procedures are followed and safety standards are adhered to (risk assessments, incident reporting & investigating, policy & procedures review, MOC, etc.) to realize zero incidents and injuries across the team.\nPrepare short-term mine plans (drill & blast designs, short-range plans, etc.) from pit to port and assist in development of the annual Budget and forecasts to provide direction and input to short-range planning.\nConduct various engineering tasks (design, production performance analysis, reporting, consumables tracking, etc.) as part of on-going continuous improvement.\nWork with site management in support of planning, risk assessment and change-management initiatives to identify new or evolving hazards and prioritization of countermeasures.This list is not all-inclusive. Other duties may be required.\nMain Qualifications\nBachelor’s degree in Mine Engineering.\nRegistered professional or eligible for registration with Northwest Territories and Nunavut\nAssociation of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists (NAPEG).\nWSCC Supervisor Level II certificate.\nMinimum five (5) years of experience in mine planning, technical services and / or operations specific to the mining or construction industries.\nExperience working with Hexagon Minesight 3D or Alastri preferred.\nSupervisory experience in technical services or operations is an asset.\nArctic experience is an asset.\nJob Location\nMary River Mine Site, NU, CanadaCompensation\nCompensation for this position is aligned with Baffinland’s approved compensation framework and current market conditions.
