This is a hands-on technical role focused on ensuring the reliability, security, and operational excellence of our cloud infrastructure.\nUnlike traditional platform engineering roles centered on building internal developer platforms or delivering new features, this position is focused on operations, service delivery, and execution. You'll be responsible for maintaining production Kubernetes clusters, enforcing AWS governance, responding to operational issues, and supporting a high volume of internal requests. As well as participating in an On Call off hours rotation.\nThe ideal candidate thrives in production environments, enjoys solving complex infrastructure problems, and is passionate about building stable, secure, and well-governed cloud platforms.\nResponsibilities\nCloud & Platform Operations\nOwn the day-to-day operations of AWS and Kubernetes environments, ensuring high availability, reliability, and performance.\nPerform hands-on administration of production Kubernetes clusters and AWS infrastructure.\nTroubleshoot complex infrastructure, networking, and container platform issues.\nExecute platform maintenance activities including upgrades, patching, scaling, and lifecycle management.\nContinuously improve operational processes, automation, and platform stability.\nKubernetes Operations\nOperate and maintain production Kubernetes clusters.\nPerform cluster upgrades, patching, and version management.\nTroubleshoot Kubernetes control plane, worker nodes, networking, storage, ingress, and workload issues.\nOptimize cluster performance, resource utilization, and resilience.\nSupport containerized application deployments and resolve runtime issues.\nImplement Kubernetes operational best practices around security, reliability, and scalability.\nAWS Operations & Governance\nSupport AWS account administration, IAM, networking, and infrastructure management.\nImplement and maintain AWS governance guardrails, security controls, and access policies.\nEnsure compliance with organizational standards for cloud infrastructure.\nAssist with cloud cost optimization and resource management.\nPartner with security teams to remediate infrastructure risks and vulnerabilities.\nIncident Response & Operational Support\nParticipate in production incident response and on-call rotations.\nTroubleshoot and resolve complex production issues across AWS and Kubernetes environments.\nPerform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions.\nSupport a ticket-driven operational model with a strong focus on responsiveness and customer service.\nDocument operational procedures and contribute to knowledge sharing across the team.\nMonitoring & Reliability\nMaintain monitoring, logging, and alerting for cloud infrastructure and Kubernetes platforms.\nProactively identify reliability risks before they impact users.\nImprove observability and operational visibility across the platform.\nDrive continuous improvements to platform uptime and operational efficiency.\nCross-Functional Collaboration\nPartner with engineering teams to troubleshoot application deployment issues.\nSupport internal users by resolving infrastructure requests and platform-related issues.\nCollaborate with security, networking, and development teams to deliver reliable cloud services.\nContribute technical expertise during infrastructure planning and operational improvements.\nRequired Qualifications\n5+ years of experience supporting cloud infrastructure in production environments.\n Strong hands-on experience administering production Kubernetes environments, including:Cluster installation and lifecycle management\nUpgrades and patching\nNetworking (CNI)\nIngress controllers\nPersistent storage\nRBAC and security\nTroubleshooting workloads and cluster health\n\nStrong hands-on experience with AWS services including:IAM\nVPC\nEC2\nEKS\nRoute 53\nCloudWatch\nLoad Balancers\nEFS\n\nExperience implementing AWS governance, IAM policies, and security best practices.\nStrong Linux systems administration skills.\nExperience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform and Ansible preferred).\nExperience with CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation.\nExperience with monitoring and observability tools such as Datadog or similar.\nExperience supporting production incidents and participating in on-call rotations.\nStrong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills.\nExcellent communication skills with the ability to work directly with technical and non-technical stakeholders.\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience operating Kubernetes platforms at enterprise scale.\nExperience with GitOps tools such as Argo CD.\nExperience with policy enforcement tools such as Kyverno.\nExperience with container security platforms and vulnerability management.\nAWS Solutions Architect, AWS SysOps Administrator, or Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) certification.\nExperience in regulated or security-conscious environments.\nWhat We're Looking For\nWe're looking for an engineer who enjoys operating platforms as much as building them.
