Test Engineer

To ensure the quality, reliability and compliance alignment of ServiceNow IRM and GRC solutions by planning and executing structured testing across functional workflows, integrations, data, roles and access controls, reports and releases, while maintaining complete test evidence and supporting timely defect resolution and production readiness.Duties and Responsibilities

Review business requirements, functional specifications, user stories and acceptance criteria for ServiceNow IRM/GRC processes and identify test scenarios, dependencies, risks and coverage gaps.

- Prepare and maintain test strategy inputs, test plans, test scenarios, test cases, test data, requirement traceability matrices and execution evidence for assigned releases and enhancements.

- Execute functional, integration, system, regression, smoke, sanity, negative, role-based access and end-to-end testing across policy and compliance, risk, audit, issue, exception, control, evidence and remediation workflows.

- Validate ServiceNow forms, fields, workflows, approvals, notifications, business rules, SLAs, reports, dashboards, scheduled activities, import/data-load outcomes and interfaces against approved requirements.

- Test user roles, groups, access controls, segregation of duties, record visibility and confidential-data handling in coordination with functional, platform and information-security teams.

- Log defects with clear replication steps, expected and actual results, severity, supporting evidence and impacted requirements; coordinate triage, retesting and closure with development and functional teams.

- Support SIT, UAT, release validation and post-deployment verification; monitor testing progress, defect ageing, blockers and quality risks and provide timely status reporting and escalation.

- Maintain audit-ready QA documentation, test evidence, sign-offs and traceability in line with change management, release governance and IT compliance requirements.

- Contribute to test automation, reusable regression packs, data-quality checks and continuous improvement of QA standards, metrics and ServiceNow testing practices.Key Decisions / Dimensions

Determine appropriate test scenarios, test depth, test data and regression coverage for assigned requirements based on risk and business impact.

- Assign an initial defect severity and priority recommendation based on impact, reproducibility and compliance risk, subject to the defined triage process.

- Recommend whether a test item is ready for UAT, release validation or closure based on execution results, evidence and unresolved risks.

- Identify requirements or acceptance criteria that are unclear, incomplete or not testable and escalate them for resolution before sign-off.

- Recommend improvements to test cases, regression packs, quality metrics, automation opportunities and release-quality controls.Major Challenges

Understanding complex IT compliance, risk, control and audit requirements and translating them into complete and practical test coverage.

- Validating interconnected ServiceNow IRM/GRC workflows, integrations, role-based access, notifications, reports and data dependencies across multiple teams.

- Maintaining representative test data and end-to-end traceability without compromising confidential or production information.

- Balancing release timelines with adequate regression coverage, defect retesting, evidence preparation and production-readiness checks.

- Distinguishing configuration, code, integration, data and requirement defects and coordinating timely resolution across stakeholders. Required Qualifications and Experience

Educational Qualifications Graduate degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems or equivalent. ServiceNow CSA, ATF, GRC/IRM, ISTQB or relevant testing certification will be an added advantage.

Experience 3-5 years of experience in software quality assurance, with hands-on functional testing of ServiceNow or comparable enterprise workflow platforms. Exposure to IT compliance, IRM, GRC, risk, audit, policy, control or third-party risk processes will be preferred.

Core Functional / Technical Skills Test planning, scenario and test-case design, requirement traceability, functional testing, system and integration testing, regression testing, smoke and sanity testing, negative testing, role/access testing, defect management, UAT support, release validation, test evidence and quality reporting. Working knowledge of ServiceNow IRM/GRC modules, workflows, reports and dashboards.

Additional Skills ServiceNow Automated Test Framework exposure, REST/SOAP API testing, import sets and data validation, SQL basics, JSON/XML, Postman or equivalent API tools, test-management and defect-tracking tools, Microsoft Excel . Understanding of Agile delivery, SDLC, STLC, change and release management will be beneficial.
