You will apply hands-on technical skills across electronic, mechanical, and hydraulic systems to assemble, test, troubleshoot, and qualify tools designed for high-pressure, high-temperature (HPHT) environments. Working closely with engineering, quality, and field service teams, you will help maintain tool readiness and support continuous improvement across operations\nAs an Electromechanical Technician - Downhole Tools, you will be responsible for:\nAssemble, test, troubleshoot, and repair downhole electronic assemblies including PCBs, sensors, telemetry modules, power systems, and wiring harnesses. \nAssemble, disassemble, inspect, and repair mechanical tool components including housings, bearings, shafts, seals, fasteners, and connectors. \nAssemble, test, and troubleshoot hydraulic systems such as valves, pistons, actuators, and pressure chambers. \nPerform electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and system-level functional testing using standard test equipment and fixtures. \nConduct pressure, leak, and environmental testing to verify tool performance and compliance with specifications. \nDiagnose nonconformances and failures, support root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions. \nEnsure compliance with Baker Hughes Quality Management System (QMS) and Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) requirements. \nMaintain accurate documentation, inspection records, and component traceability. \nCollaborate with engineering, quality, and field service teams to support tool readiness and reliability. \nSupport continuous improvement initiatives focused on quality, safety, and efficiency. \nTo be successful in this role you will:\nAssociate degree (AAS/AS) in Electromechanical Technology, Electronics Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or related discipline OR equivalent technical training and career experience. \nMinimum of 3-5 years of hands-on experience with electromechanical, hydraulic, and downhole tool or similar systems. \nAbility to read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, assembly procedures, and test documentation. \nWorking knowledge of electronic test equipment such as multimeters and oscilloscopes. \nStrong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills. \nProficiency with standard measuring tools and torque-controlled assembly. \nBasic computer skills for documentation and test data entry. \nAbility to work in a fast-paced, safety-critical manufacturing or service environment. \n\nDesired Characteristics \n\nExperience with data analytics, Excel, SAP, MS Office, Outlook, and other database applications. \nIPC certifications (IPC-A-610, IPC-J-STD-001). \nExperience with HPHT or oilfield downhole tools. \nHydraulic systems training or certification. \nLean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement experience. \nStrong communication skills and ability to mentor junior technicians. \nDemonstrated ownership, accountability, and safety-first mindset. \nWork in a way that works for you \nWe recognize that everyone is different and that the way in which people want to work and deliver at their best is different for everyone too\nWorking with us \nOur people are at the heart of what we do at Baker Hughes.
