This role requires extensive expertise in offshore chemical treatment applications, production optimization, troubleshooting, and customer relationship management. The successful candidate will be expected to operate independently from day one, providing subject matter expertise while delivering exceptional service to one of Baker Hughes' most strategic customers. The role will be based in Georgetown, Guyana, with regular interaction at customer locations and offshore assets.\nAs the Senior Application Engineer, you will be responsible for:\nServing as the technical focal point for offshore production chemical programs supporting key customer assets in Guyana.\nDelivering technical expertise in production chemistry, chemical treatment optimization, and asset performance improvement.\nDesigning and optimizing chemical treatment programs for corrosion, paraffin, asphaltene, and flow assurance challenges.\nLeading troubleshooting activities across production, separation, and water treatment systems.\nConducting field evaluations, system reviews, and root cause investigations to identify performance improvement opportunities.\nBuilding trusted relationships with customer stakeholders and providing technical recommendations that drive operational value.\nSupporting offshore operations through site visits and rotational assignments as required.\nCollaborating with Commercial, Technology, and Service Delivery teams to resolve complex customer challenges.\nActing as a subject matter expert while mentoring colleagues and sharing best practices across the organization.\nFuel your passion\nTo be successful in this role you will:\nHave a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Chemistry, Petroleum Engineering, or a related technical discipline.\nHave 10+ years of experience supporting upstream production chemicals and offshore operations.\nDemonstrate expertise in production chemistry, including corrosion inhibition, paraffin control, asphaltene management, and subsea chemical applications.\nHave strong troubleshooting experience across production systems, separation processes, and water treatment operations.\nBe capable of operating independently in a customer-facing environment with minimal supervision.\nPossess excellent communication, presentation, and technical problem-solving skills.\nBe willing and able to support offshore rotational assignments and travel as required.\nDemonstrate the ability to influence customers through technical credibility and value-driven solutions.\nWork in a way that works for you\nWe recognize that everyone is different and that the way people want to work and deliver their best is different for everyone.\nThis role is based in Georgetown, Guyana.\nThe position includes significant customer interaction and time spent supporting customer operations.\nOffshore travel and rotational assignments may be required, including periodic 28/28 rotations.\nFlexible working arrangements may be available where operational requirements permit.\nRelocation assistance may be considered for qualified candidates, subject to company policy and business requirements.\nWorking with us\nWorking at Baker Hughes means being at the forefront of the energy transition while collaborating with colleagues who are passionate about making energy safer, cleaner, and more efficient.\nWorking for you\nOur inventions have revolutionized energy for over a century.
