You will lead complex troubleshooting, drive quality improvements, and serve as a key technical contributor across multiple projects. This role involves deeper expertise in distributed systems, advanced debugging, and developing tools and configurations that support the full subsea controls lifecycle.\nAs a Senior Embedded Software Engineer, you will be responsible for:\nLeading and actively participating in design and code reviews, ensuring robustness, compliance, and maintainability of software components.\nProducing and validating XML-based configurations for Subsea Electronic Modules, providing advanced troubleshooting and guidance to junior engineers.\nDeveloping and enhancing Python-based tools used to streamline engineering workflows, automate tasks, or integrate new capabilities.\nApplying strong knowledge of object-oriented design, Java SE, and cross-platform C/C++ development for Windows and real-time Linux, using tools such as LINT or LDRA to maintain code quality.\nArchitect and support distributed communication systems using Modbus, CAN, Ethernet UDP/TCP, and other industrial protocols.\nLeading system-level troubleshooting, efficiently isolating and resolving issues across software, communication layers, and hardware interfaces.\nTo be successful in this role you will:\nHave a bachelor’s degree in software engineering, Computer Science, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, or related discipline.\nHave significant experience with embedded software development in C/C++, along with familiarity with Python and Java SE.\nHave a strong understanding of object-oriented design, real-time systems, and distributed communication protocols.\nBe able to analyse issues, troubleshoot systematically, and contribute to high-reliability system development.\nHave significant hands-on experience developing embedded or industrial control system software.\nHave significant experience with system-level debugging, communications protocol analysis, and performance optimization.\nPrior experience supporting junior engineers and influence design decisions.\nWork in a way that works for you\nWe recognize that everyone is different and that the way in which people want to work and deliver at their best is different for everyone too.
