We ensure safety, quality and productivity for our customers across major industries around the world.\nFueling your passion\nWe are seeking a Senior Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) with 5 to 8 years of professional experience in embedded systems and software validation. In this role, you will take ownership of our automated test strategy, designing and scaling advanced test frameworks that bridge hardware and software. You will act as a technical leader, mentoring junior engineers and collaborating closely with firmware developers, electrical engineers, and product managers to ensure the reliability of our products.\nAs a Senior Engineer, Embedded Software Testing and Qualification, you will be responsible for:\n Architect Test Frameworks: Designing, architecture, and scaling automated test frameworks from scratch for hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) environments and system integration. \nDevelop Automation Code: Writing robust, production-grade automation scripts and testing suites using Python, or modern C#. \nLead Hardware/Software Debugging: Isolating, diagnosing, and root-cause complex low-level hardware defects, race conditions, and timing anomalies using lab equipment.\n Optimize CI/CD Pipelines: Building, maintaining, and optimizing continuous integration pipelines (e.g. Azure Pipelines, Jenkins, GitLab CI) to orchestrate daily regression testing on hardware. \n Drive Testability: Participating in software code reviews and architectural discussions to advocate for testability, test hooks, and design-for-test (DFT) principles. \nMentor Team Members: Providing technical guidance, code reviews, and mentorship to junior engineers on the team. \nTo be successful in this role, you will:\nExperience: Have 4+ years of experience as an SDET or Test Automation Engineer specifically within embedded systems or application testing\nProgramming: Have proficiency C# .NET and familiarity with Python.\nComputer Vision: Have experience testing and employing CV technologies is desirable\nEducation: Have Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related STEM discipline. \nPreferred\nHave experience with automated test equipment (ATE) design or custom hardware test fixture development.\nHave knowledge of safety-critical development standards (e.g., ISO 26262, IEC 62304, DO-178C).\nHave experience with containerization tools like Docker for standardized test environments. \nLeverage AI/ML tools to accelerate test development, including automated test generation.\nWork Environment:\nThis role requires regular onsite presence at the Skaneateles, NY facility.\nWork in a way that works for you\nWe recognize that everyone is different and that the way in which people want to work and deliver at their best is different for everyone too.\nWorking with us\nOur people are at the heart of what we do at Baker Hughes. The employer is unable to sponsor work authorization for this role at any time.\nThe annual pay scale for this position is between $87,870.00 - $163,120.00.Candidates for this role (office-based/ hybrid/ remote) must be located in or near the locations displayed above.
