As part of this team, you will be responsible for driving our culture of innovation and technical excellence. The Wellbore Construction Engineering group provides product design and qualification support for product line equipment worldwide. The Senior Mechanical Design Engineer takes ownership in developing new products, provides support for the existing products, and responds to operations/customer feasibility work.\nAs a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for:\nExecute the evaluation, design, analysis, test, or integration of individual and team projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements.\nApply system engineering methodologies such as requirements definition, system architecture and integration, analyses, configuration management, and risk management in the design phase of products\nProvide technical leadership to personnel/cross functional teams supporting the assigned project.\nImplement and recommend plans with guidance to meet technical requirements of assigned components, systems, or programs.\nLead or participate in teams assigned to address organizational initiatives and generic issues.\nPresent or participate in technical and program design reviews.\nAssure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures.\nEstimate and manage assigned project timelines and costs.\nPlans and executes product validation testing.\nTo be successful in this role you will:\n\nBachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited university or college.\nMinimum 10 years of experience in completions technologies.\nStrong communication skills, with an ability to interact with both internal and external customers.\nBe an effective team collaborator with good understanding of behavioral and personnel dynamics; Able to work independently and as a member of a team.\nBe able to demonstrate flexibility in adapting to changing projects or workload demands.\nBe proficient in design, modelling, analysis, and product qualification.\nDesired Characteristics:\nExperience in the design of down hole oil field equipment, especially liner hangers\nStrong experience with FEA (finite element analysis), especially plastic deformations, load reversals, and kinematic hardening\nStrong preference for Expandable Liner Hanger experience\nUnderstanding of basic oilfield practices and applications\nExperience with product design including stress calculations, tolerances studies\nFamiliarity with qualification testing and test fixture design, especially API 19LH\nKnowledge of manufacturing processes/design for manufacturability\nExperience with SolidWorks 3D CAD system\nExperience with Teamcenter PLM software\nWorking with us\n\nOur people are at the heart of what we do at Baker Hughes.
