As the demand to deliver exceptional engineering design from our clients continues to grow, an opportunity has arisen for a HV Cable Design Engineer. \nAs a HV Cable Design Engineer, you will be reporting to the Principal Engineer - HV. You will be responsible for ensuring the quality and consistency of the team’s output in the production and control of drawings and technical documents. You will assist during the bid process in order to secure further work.\nAbout You\nYou must have experience in producing and checking all designs, calculations, reports, and drawings related to new or modified HV/EHV projects ranging from 11kV to 400kV, specifically for cable system designs.\nThis includes the production of bonding line diagrams, cable rating calculations, induced voltage calculations, short circuit force calculations, thermo-mechanical thrust calculations, pulling tension calculations, material specification lists, etc.\nThe candidate must have experience as a technical lead in project delivery and act as the primary point of contact. This role requires excellent client facing skills and the ability to communicate technical matters effectively to both internal and external stakeholders at various expertise levels.\nThe candidate must have a solid foundation in mathematics and science, preferably with a background in power engineering, and possess strong communication skills.\nIn this role, they will manage the production of project deliverables through a rigorous checking process, including the development of drawing packages in collaboration with dedicated CAD technicians.\nThis position requires coordination with CAD technicians, HV cable engineers, and engineers from other disciplines (Primary, Civil and Structural, Geotechnical).\nA relevant degree in BEng / Bsc in Electrical Engineering with Power / HV background.\nIdeally working towards MEng / Msc in Electrical Engineering with Power / HV background.\nWorking toward CEng status, will be an added advantage.\nWhy this role?\nYou will form part of a team that is a trusted partner for some of the UK's largest critical infrastructure projects.\nYou will be joining a diverse, established team with a varied background of skills and expertise, who value new ideas and welcome innovative solutions.
