Depending on the size and complexity of the project, you’ll either lead a larger civil team or provide technical and delivery oversight across several smaller teams.\nThis is a role for an experienced civil engineer who can combine strong technical knowledge with the ability to lead people, manage delivery and build effective relationships with clients and other disciplines.\nWhat you’ll be doing\nLead civil engineering teams delivering projects to agreed scope, programme, cost and quality requirements.\n\nProvide technical direction and review to ensure designs are robust, coordinated and compliant with relevant standards.\n\nTake responsibility for the delivery of civil design packages across areas such as earthworks, drainage, highways and external works.\n\nPlan and coordinate resources across projects, ensuring teams have the right skills and capacity to deliver effectively.\n\nWork closely with project managers, other engineering disciplines and clients to resolve technical and delivery challenges.\n\nSupport the development of engineers within the team through technical guidance, mentoring and knowledge sharing.\n\nContribute to project planning, fee proposals, tenders and changes to scope.\n\nEnsure projects are delivered in line with business quality systems, assurance processes, CDM and relevant health and safety requirements.\n\nSupport continuous improvement and contribute to the development of engineering standards, processes and ways of working.\n\nBuild and maintain strong client relationships, contributing to repeat business and positive project outcomes.\n\nWhat you’ll bring\nDegree in Civil Engineering or an equivalent qualification.\n\nChartered Engineer status with ICE or an equivalent professional institution.\n\nSignificant experience delivering civil engineering projects within a consultancy or similar environment.\n\nBroad technical experience across areas such as drainage, earthworks, highways, external works.\n\nStrong knowledge of current civil engineering design codes, standards and assurance processes.\n\nExperience working within CDM and health and safety requirements.\n\nExperience leading and developing engineering teams.\n\nA proven track record of delivering projects successfully, including managing scope, programme, quality and resources.\n\nExperience working directly with clients and other project stakeholders.\n\nExperience delivering projects within one or more relevant sectors, with specialist sector knowledge an advantage.\n\nThe ability to work effectively within fully integrated, multidisciplinary design teams.\n\nWhat you can expect\nThe opportunity to lead significant civil engineering projects across a range of sectors.\n\nA technically varied role with responsibility from project delivery through to client engagement.\n\nThe opportunity to mentor and develop engineers within the team.\n\nCollaboration with experienced civil, structural and multidisciplinary engineering teams.\n\nOpportunities to broaden your technical and project leadership experience.\n\nFlexible and hybrid working.\n\nA comprehensive benefits package.\n\nWorking in multiple sectors and gaining exposure to various types of projects. \nMany of the positions within our company are subject to security clearance or security assurance levels. \nThe successful candidate must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate level of security clearance or assurance level for this role, in line with client and sector requirements.\nIn some cases, additional nationality or residency criteria may also apply due to specific client or national security obligations.\nFurther information on National security clearance levels can be found on the UK Government website: (National security vetting: clearance levels - GOV.UK) \nAbout BakerHicks \nWe’ve been innovating in design, engineering and project delivery since 1957 and operate from 14 locations for a truly European reach.
