This position will place a successful candidate into a team of industry leading commissioning/QA-QC mechanical systems testing engineers who lead the Commissioning process and provide technical oversight of the testing of mechanical equipment, controls and distribution systems. Project oversight includes but is not limited to, mechanical system(s) upgrades in existing facilities, new mechanical systems testing (new construction) for fortune 500 companies throughout the U.S. Projects include data centers, trading floors, broadcast facilities, high rise infrastructure, healthcare, and high-end office HVAC systems. Scope includes ASHRAE Level-1 through Level-5 Commissioning, LEED Cx, Energy Code Cx, Retro Cx on mechanical infrastructure equipment, distribution and controls systems. It also includes predictive preventative maintenance program planning and execution, and systemic and component troubleshooting throughout the commissioning process.\nROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:\n Manage Cx Projects\nServe as a project manager on select projects in the Cx Group. Project types include data centers, new builds, renovations, fit-outs and infrastructure upgrades, LEED Cx, Energy Code Cx and Retro Cx. \nThe CxPM role is client facing. The responsibilities include: reviewing RFP’s, attending pre-bid walkthroughs and writing proposals, test scripts, and reports. The role also includes planning of work, execution and day-to-day management of internal teams and clients.\nThe CxPM will provide all management functions including scope responsibilities, client management, scheduling, and financials.\nAssist other CxPM’s across all locations of the enterprise.\nAs a CxPM based out of the Boston office, it is expected that the majority of time will be spent in the local area. Travel to other Bala offices is encouraged on an as-needed basis. National travel to project sites is expected and will occur infrequently on an as-needed basis based on the requirements of the project. This candidate must be willing to work various hours (days, nights, weekends etc.) to support project commissioning activities.\nParticipate in Project Staffing Support\nReview workforce projections and determine how it relates to staffing.\nIdentify times and strategies to manipulate design schedules to work with staffing.\nProvide input on individual staff member performance, advancement, and potential.\nParticipate in staff performance reviews when appropriate.\nDrive ownership, accountability and culture through the company.\nInteract with partners and executives on a regular basis to further the growth and quality agenda of the firm.\nMarketing / Business Development Support\nIdentify potential business opportunities.\nWork with the leadership team to develop fees on complex projects.\nDevelop and maintain client relationships.\nGrow the volume and footprint of the office market sectors.\nQualifications:\n At least 5-7 years’ experience in commissioning or adjacent field (construction, owner’s representative, etc.)\nBachelor’s degree in engineering or other relevant field \nPE/CEM/CBCP/BCxP preferred\nData center experience preferred\nExperience managing projects and people\nStrong interpersonal and team building skills\nStrong technical writing skills \nKnowledge of building codes\nKnowledge of industry best practices and the latest technologies for mechanical / controls systems commissioning\nKnowledge of electrical, plumbing, and fire protection systems a plus\nBala is a dynamic growth-oriented company, built on relationships with our clients, staff, and industry partners.
