This is a full-time position that requires availability to work both day and night shifts, depending on project and operational needs. This position reports to the Grading & Pipe Site Foreman.\nIf you are a self-motivated individual with a desire to grow in your career, please read the responsibilities and qualifications for the position below.\nSummary:\nPerforms a variety of duties relating to equipment and other materiel distribution activities and requires a CDL-A license.\nDuties:\nReceives, routes, and moves equipment and construction material.\nMay identify, inspect, and segregate equipment or material as it is received for obvious damage and needed repairs.\nDetermines appropriate handling methods and devices needed to move items.\nPrepares and processes all necessary paperwork and dispatches.\nEnsures accountability, completes logbooks, maintenance records, reports, and other transportation documents for accurate accounting.\nDetermines proper identification, marking, labeling, and inclusion of shipping documents and special handling instructions on all shipments.\nAssists the Foreman as required in actions such as determining freight shipping requirements consistent with efficiency and transportation priorities.\nAnalyzes and interprets technical transportation requirements.\nManeuvers vehicles within close tolerances when driving and backing over uneven ground, in narrow or congested areas, between buildings, and other vehicles when positioning vehicles at loading docks.\nOperates vehicles on interstate highways, winding roads, and steep grades and manipulates the dual braking system to prevent the truck from jackknifing.\nEnsures cargo is properly loaded, distributed, and secured.\nTransports items that are bulky and unwieldy utilizing appropriate load balance and adequate protection for items.\nOccasionally drives over rough surfaces.\nPicks up items from job sites, local vendors, and suppliers.\nChecks routine maintenance items on assigned vehicles such as oil, tire pressure, windshield washer fluids, power steering fluids, and gas as per required preventive maintenance guidance.\nKeeps assigned vehicle in good appearance and assures it is in top-notch condition for periodic vehicle inspections.\nPerforms other duties as assigned.\nWork Environment:\nWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to work near moving and mechanical parts and equipment.\nThe noise level in the work environment can be loud.\nThe employee will be exposed to dust and fumes from cleaners, gasoline, diesel, and exhaust.\nThe employee will work outdoors and will be exposed to the weather, including extremes in heat and cold, and rain.\nPhysical Demands:\nThe employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and requires manual dexterity and strength in arms and feet to manipulate equipment controls, tools, and other items used to adjust and/or minor maintenance.\nWill use hands, arms, back, and shoulders to handle, install, position, move items, and manipulate other objects.\nCould be in a standing, bending, kneeling, or sitting position for long periods of time.\nOther Requirements:\nDisplay a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors, and the general public at all times. Must be willing to work nights and weekends when necessary. Ready to begin work at the designated start time. Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Safety Manual. Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required.\nPersonal Protective Equipment:\nIndividuals are required to wear personal protective equipment in designated operations and production areas as stated by OSHA and/or MSHA and company policy. Protective equipment that may be required, but not limited to, for this position: Coveralls, Fall Protection, Gloves, Welding Gloves, Hard Hat, Hearing Protection, Padlocks for Lockout/Tagout, Respiratory Protection, Safety Glasses, Safety (hard toe) Shoes, Welding Aprons, Welding Helmet, Welding Shield.\nEducation, Training, and Experience:\nMinimum of 2 years of CDL driving experience.\nWillingness and ability to perform the work and follow verbal and written instructions.\nValid, unrestricted Class A License is required.\n***We require all applicants to have a clean record in the FMCSA Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse.
