As a company, Balltec is targeting significant growth to provide even more effective support for our clients in this industry.\nThe Mechanical Design Engineer will work alongside other engineers and internal company personnel to engineer final design solutions, develop conceptual designs, support existing products and perform testing/analysis of new and existing products.\nKey responsibilities\nProduce 3D models and manufacturing drawings using Autodesk Inventor.\nPerform design calculations with MathCAD Prime and apply engineering principles.\nSupport R&D by generating concepts for new mechanical tools and lifting/mooring connectors.\nConduct feasibility studies, brainstorming, and develop prototypes for proof-of-concept.\nCarry out stress analysis, FEA, fatigue assessments, and design validation for offshore/heavy industry.\nReport technical issues to the Engineering Manager.\nOversee prototype build/testing, analyse workshop trial data, and refine designs.\nInterface with other departments.\nSupport sales, promote the company, and uphold Balltec Quality & HSE Procedures and policies.\nEducation & Experience\nMinimum HND in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design Engineering or a related subject (required).\nMinimum 4 years’ experience in a related field (required) \nExperience in the one of the following fields (desired):Research & development of mechanical products (concept to new product introduction)\nHydraulic system design\nMaterials and welding\n\nGood IT skills, e.g. Microsoft Office applications (required).\nGood written and verbal communication skills (required).\nFull UK driving license (preferred, not required).\nRequired skills\nExtensive experience of Computer Aided Design (Autodesk Inventor preferred).\nExperience of Finite Element Analysis.\nExtensive experience in the use of engineering principles such as stress-strain and beam theory and the ability to produce calculations to support the design of critical components.\nExcellent communications skills - must interface successfully with other engineers, non-technical personnel and with customers to define and implement solutions.\nDemonstrated initiative in solving challenging problems.\nAbility to rapidly learn new concepts with little to no supervision.\nRight to Work: \n\nAt this time, we are onlu able to consider applocants who are authorised to work in the UK without the requirement for a visa..\nOther benefits\n38 hour working week (averaged over 2 weeks) with alternate Fridays or every Friday afternoon off.\n8% company pension contribution.\nCycle to work scheme\n5 weeks holiday plus bank holidays\nCompany events \nInternal grade 3 - 5\nAt Venterra:\nAt Venterra, we are committed to inclusion and diversity in everything we do.
