As a company, Balltec is targeting significant growth to provide even more effective support for our clients in this industry.\nThe Mechatronics Design Engineer will work alongside other engineers and internal company personnel to engineer final design solutions, develop conceptual designs, support existing products and perform testing/analysis of new and existing products.\nKey responsibilities\nLead the design of electro-mechanical assemblies as part of multi-disciplinary engineering teams.\nAct as the technical authority and design/specify control systems for electro-hydraulic tools, including PLCs, embedded controllers, I/O, sensors, actuators, and HMIs.\nProduce and maintain key system documentation: 3D models, manufacturing drawings and design calculations (P&IDs, schematics, control narratives, FDS, interface specs, I/O lists, and test procedures).\nIntegrate and configure sensors and communication protocols (e.g., Ethernet/IP, Profinet, Modbus, CAN).\nOversee and support factory and site acceptance testing (FAT/SAT), commissioning, troubleshooting, and optimisation of control systems.\nDeliver operator training, manuals, and after-sales support as required.\nCollaborate with other departments (Mechanical Design, Production, QA, Sales) to ensure effective communication, manufacturability, and reliability.\nContribute to R&D activities, technical solutions for bids, and continuous product improvement.\nEnsure compliance with company policies, quality, and HSE procedures.\nEducation & Experience\nDegree or HND in Mechatronics, Control, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, or equivalent experience.\nAt least 5-8 years’ experience in electro-mechanical or industrial control systems, preferably with electro-hydraulic integration.\nExperience of basic controls system programming, ladder logic and sensor integration.\nExperience in mechanical design and verification (preferred).\nHands-on commissioning experience (FAT/SAT), with willingness to travel for abroad for such work.\nStrong IT, written, and verbal communication skills.\nFull UK driving license (preferred, not required).\nRequired skills\nExtensive experience in the design of electro-mechanical assemblies.\nExperience of PLC integration and basic PLC programming.\nExperience in the design and verification of mechanical components. \nExcellent communications skills - must interface successfully with other engineers, non-technical personnel and with customers to define and implement solutions.\nDemonstrated initiative in solving challenging problems.\nRight to Work:\n\nAt this time, we are onlu able to consider applocants who are authorised to work in the UK without the requirement for a visa.. \nOther benefits\n38 hour working week (averaged over 2 weeks) with alternate Fridays or every Friday afternoon off.\n8% company pension contribution.\nCycle to work scheme\n5 weeks holiday plus bank holidays\nCompany events \nInternal job grade 3 - 6\nAt Venterra:\nAt Venterra, we are committed to inclusion and diversity in everything we do.
