The Cards Analytics team is responsible for delivering data-driven insights and analytical solutions that support credit card and debit card portfolio management, fraud strategy optimization, customer experience improvements, and operational efficiency. The role utilizes advanced analytical techniques, large-scale data analysis, and business intelligence tools to identify trends, monitor portfolio performance, optimize fraud and authorization strategies, and support strategic decision-making across the Cards business.
The successful candidate will collaborate closely with Fraud Strategy, Operations, Product, Technology, and Risk Management teams to transform complex card transaction data into actionable business insights.
Key Responsibilities
Perform advanced analysis of credit and debit card transaction data to identify fraud trends, customer behaviors, authorization performance, and portfolio opportunities.
Develop, maintain, and optimize analytical reporting, dashboards, and performance monitoring frameworks for Cards business initiatives.
Analyze large volumes of transaction, authorization, fraud, chargeback, and customer data to identify emerging risks and business opportunities.
Support fraud strategy development by evaluating rule performance, decisioning outcomes, and portfolio impacts.
Conduct complex data analysis using SQL and analytical tools to provide insights and recommendations to business stakeholders.
Work with TSYS platforms, TSYS Determinator, and other card processing systems to understand transaction flows, strategy execution, and portfolio performance.
Partner with Fraud Strategy, Product, Risk, and Operations teams to support data-driven decision making and business planning.
Design and execute ad-hoc analyses related to authorization rates, fraud losses, customer authentication performance, digital payments, and portfolio management.
Develop predictive and descriptive analytical models to improve business performance and operational efficiency.
Prepare executive-level presentations, analysis summaries, and recommendations for senior leadership.
Identify opportunities to automate reporting and analytical processes.
Provide specialized consulting, analytical, and technical support to Cards business partners.
Exercise judgment to identify, diagnose, and solve complex business problems using analytical approaches.
Work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Take measured risks while protecting the bank by applying our Risk Management Framework in the execution of your role, making sound and risk-informed decisions aligned with business strategy and regulatory requirements.
Required Qualifications
Advanced Proficiency
Advanced TSYS expertise is requried, including hands-on experience with TSYS card processing platforms and TSYS Determinator strategy configuration, rules management, and decisioning frameworks.
Strong SQL programming and query optimization skills.
Extensive experience analyzing large transactional datasets.
Cards industry knowledge including credit card and debit card processing.
Data analysis, data wrangling, and data preparation.
Data visualization and business intelligence reporting.
Analytical and problem-solving skills.
Verbal and written communication skills.
Stakeholder management and influence skills.
Data-driven decision making.
Collaboration and team leadership skills.
Fraud analytics, card authorization analytics, or payment analytics experience.

Experience with Dataiku for data analytics, workflow automation, and model development.
Experience developing dashboards in Power BI, Tableau, or similar visualization tools.
Strong Microsoft Power BI and SQL Server
Experience with Python, SAS, R, or other analytical programming languages.
Knowledge of Visa, Mastercard, 3-D Secure, Identity Check, SecureCode, and digital authentication technologies.
Experience in Card Fraud Strategy, Authorization Strategy, or Payments Risk Management.
Familiarity with machine learning and AI applications in fraud detection and customer analytics.
Experience & Education
Typically 5-7+ years of experience in Cards Analytics, Fraud Analytics, Payments Analytics, Risk Analytics, or a related field.
Advanced proficiency with TSYS card processing platforms, including hands-on experience leveraging TSYS Determinator strategies, rules, and decisioning frameworks to support fraud, authorization, and portfolio management initiatives.
Undergraduate degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, Economics, Finance, or a related quantitative discipline.
Equivalent combination of education and relevant experience will be considered.
Deep knowledge gained through extensive business experience in card payments, fraud management, and analytical environments.
Salary:
$80,000.00 - $175,000.00Pay Type:

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.
