They will also be expected to demonstrate the Barclays Mindset - to Empower, Challenge and Drive - the operating manual for how we behave.\nWe are seeking a skilled AI Engineer at Barclays to develop and implement machine learning and AI solutions that strengthen our ability to detect financial crime, prevent fraud, and safeguard our customers.\nWorking closely with data scientists, engineers, and senior technical colleagues, you will contribute to scalable ML pipelines, agentic AI systems, production-grade model code, and robust monitoring solutions. You will support delivery across the AI/ML lifecycle-from data exploration and model development through to deployment and monitoring-while working within established governance, documentation, and regulatory standards.\nTo be successful as an AI Engineer, you must have the following essential skills:\nStrong experience developing scalable, modular, and maintainable Python applications\nExperience developing and deploying well-tested Generative AI applications, using relevant frameworks such as LangGraph/LangChain, Strands SDK, Anthropic SDK, AWS Bedrock, or CrewAI\nExperience in machine learning development, including training, evaluating, deploying, and monitoring models\nExperience with deep learning or NLP frameworks, such as PyTorch or Hugging Face\nGood understanding of software engineering principles, design patterns, and ML lifecycle practices, including MLOps or LLMOps\nExperience contributing to the delivery of AI or ML projects and working effectively with technical and business stakeholders\nSome other highly valued skills may include:\nExperience supporting or mentoring colleagues within machine learning engineering or software development teams\nExperience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP, or ML platforms such as Databricks\nExposure to evaluating LLM-based applications, including AI-as-a-judge approaches\nExperience with Generative AI techniques such as retrieval-augmented generation, fine-tuning, or prompt engineering\nExposure to distributed data processing frameworks, such as
