Job Description

Purpose of the role

To enable effective data governance, risk management, and compliance within the bank, acting as a liaison between business units and the Data & Records Management (DRM) function, translating business needs into actionable strategies and ensuring efficient implementation of DRM.

Accountabilities

  • Partnership with the local business unit to ensure successful implementation of data & records governance frameworks as appropriate to the needs of the business unit.
  • Provision of guidance and support on records classification, retention, storage, retrieval and disposal to business units.
  • Monitoring local data quality and records metrics and identify areas for improvement.
  • Identification of opportunities for data improvement and optimisation.
  • Partnership with the relevant business unit to support their data priorities and ensure appropriate decisions related to data & records are embedded in their BAU decision making and change programs.

This role requires an experienced person in Data Privacy who can provide leadership, oversight, and strategic direction across privacy governance, privacy risk management, and regulatory compliance activities. Partnering with senior stakeholders across business and control functions, you will drive privacy governance outcomes that support strategic decision-making, regulatory excellence, and operational effectiveness. This is a unique opportunity to influence enterprise-wide campaigns and ensure the responsible and compliant use of personal data across a global organization.

To be successful in this role, you should have experience with:

  • Extensive Data Privacy experience within a regulated financial services environment, including the design, implementation, and oversight of Data Privacy governance frameworks, privacy risk management programs, and privacy regulatory compliance activities

  • Extensive knowledge of global privacy and data protection regulations, including the ability to interpret regulatory requirements, assess privacy impacts, and translate obligations into practical controls, governance processes, and business outcomes

  • Experience partnering with senior stakeholders across Business, Legal, Compliance, Risk, Technology, and Operations functions to influence strategic decisions and embed privacy-by-design principles into business processes, products, services, and transformation programs

  • Experience guiding and overseeing privacy risk assessments, privacy impact assessments, privacy-by-design reviews, privacy notices, lawful basis assessments, data sharing arrangements, data retention considerations, and remediation activities relating to privacy compliance obligations

  • Knowledge of Investment Banking and Markets activities, with the ability to assess privacy implications arising from new products, technologies, data uses, strategic programs, third-party relationships, and regulatory developments while balancing commercial targets and risk management requirements

Some other highly valued skills may include:

  • Demonstrated experience implementing and continuously enhancing enterprise Data Privacy frameworks, standards, policies, procedures, controls, and governance forums

  • Experience providing experienced guidance on the collection, use, sharing, transfer, retention, and protection of personal data throughout the data lifecycle

  • Solid understanding of privacy risk management, regulatory engagement, control design, issue remediation, monitoring, reporting, and governance within a global financial institution

  • Experience supporting business and technology change programs, ensuring privacy requirements are identified, assessed, and embedded throughout project and product lifecycles

  • Professional privacy qualifications or certifications (CIPP, CIPM, CIPT or equivalent) are advantageous
