You will report to the Head of HSE for your area. Supporting HSE Advisors, site teams and managers through your inspections by recognising hazards, seeking to minimise risks whilst creating, maintaining and improving the health, safety & environmental standards. Championing HSE initiatives in the region whilst ensuring that legislation is adhered to.\nKey Responsibilities\nPromote Occupational Health & Wellbeing\nSupport the provision of Health & Wellbeing within the business, under the direction of the Head of HSE & HSE Director, with the support of the Company H&W Advisor\nSupport the communication and promotion of the monthly themes\nPromote the value of occupational health at a regional level\nHSE Advice and support to HSE Advisors\nProvide consistent and accurate HSE advice to HSE Advisors and Site Teams where applicable\nRender support to the region on HSE initiatives/issues and problems\nProduce regional HSE statistics monthly, identify trends and take proactive initiatives\nLine manage HSE Advisors under your control and mentor them to support professional development\nCollaboration and Client Support\nProvide Client support for the region under your control\nAttend Client HSE Forums as required and provide lessons learnt feedback and sharing of best practices\nForm collaborative relationships with Client HSE Management\nHSE Communications & HSE Statistics\nContribute to and support company-level HSE communications and embed at the regional level\nProduce and communicate HSE alerts following incidents to promote learning and prevention, and continual improvement\nManage monitoring of regional HSE trends, highlighting areas for improvement and\nsupporting Heads of HSE and Regional Leads on improvement deliverables\nManage the production and cascade monthly PI posters with ‘closing the loop’ information\nSupport the Head of HSE for your area of the business in maintaining HSE performance statistics monthly as requested\nDeliver awareness training and lead site standdowns\nAccident/incident investigations\nEnsure corporate incident reporting timeframes are met i.e. 2 hours escalation, 2 days for initial reports and alert communication and 2 weeks for detailed investigation reports for applicable incident categories\nSupport HSE Advisors and complete investigation reviews for HSE investigations\nKeep Head of HSE & local management informed on status and provide reviewed reports within expected timeframes\nIdentify Immediate, Underlying and Root causes within applicable investigation reports\nSupport the production of HSE alerts for communication within 2 days where appropriate\nAct as an independent Investigator in other areas of the business under the direction of the HSE Director\nHSE Monitoring\nConduct regular visits to support your Advisory Team within the area of your control\nPerform HSE Detailed Inspections monthly in your control with monthly targets agreed with your Head of HSE and or the HSE Director\nAct as a role model for HSE in the area under your control\nMonitor HSE Advisor inspections and ensure findings are closed out on time\nAgree on Advisor monthly inspection targets with the Head of HSE and monitor compliance\nApprove Regional Vendors from the HSE perspective, logging approval/feedback on the SharePoint system\nFacilities Management at Company Premises\nProvide management support for Facilities Managers at regional company premises on HSE-related issues and provisions\nMonitor HSE standards at regional company premises and ensure legal obligations are being upheld\nAbout you\nEssential\nNEBOSH general certificate or equivalent as a minimum, but ideally IOSH\nCEnv or equivalent as a minimum, but ideally associate ISEP (Institute of Sustainability &Environmental Practices)\nExtensive HSE experience within a civil engineering environment, experience in the rail sector would be beneficial but not essential\nAnalytical skills to interpret detailed information and regulations\nHigh standard of written English\nGood communication skills, including a professional telephone manner\nPeople skills - ability to liaise with staff/operatives of all levels within Barhale\nMS Office - Word, Excel and PowerPoint\nEffective communicator with strong presentation and report writing skills\nCSCS Safety Professional card\nAble to work as a member of a team, but capable of working alone to tight deadlines as appropriate\nCommitment to Health, Safety & Environment\nDesirable\nLevel 3 AET or PTTLS preferred but not essential\nWorking towards NEBOSH Diploma level 6\nIncident investigation - Kelvin TOPSET or equivalent - 1 day training course\nCaring and investing in you\nOur values have been embedded at Barhale for over 40 years, and they are our guiding principles regarding how we care and invest in people.
