You will provide the detailed technical input to the project and ensure that the work is safe and meets the specifications before implementation. The Project Engineer will have a strong focus on achieving safety targets and will have zero tolerance for unsafe working practices and occurrences. They will actively engage the project construction team in the successful implementation of project delivery.\nWorking closely with the Project Manager and the project team, you will ensure that MEICA project-related activities are planned and executed to meet the project requirements in a safe and cost-effective manner.\nYou will also contribute to customer satisfaction and ensure quality is always achieved.\nBarhale’s civil engineering and infrastructure projects are varied in value, complexity, and duration, from established frameworks to individual bespoke projects and unplanned emergency works. With projects varying from £200k to £10m+, you will be essential in driving efficiencies within the scope of work, driving MEICA elements of work, and providing a high standard of project-related activities.\nKey Responsibilities\nSupporting the Project Management team in the delivery of MEICA projects\nProduction of functional specifications, contractor selection and ensuring that all supporting scope is delivered on time\nProvide data to the project Commercial Manager/QS in respect of variation orders and site instructions\nManage suppliers of engineering services across all technical disciplines\nLiaise with any consultants, subcontractors, supervisors, planners, quantity surveyors and the general workforce involved in the project\nLiaise with clients and their representatives (architects, engineers, and surveyors), including attending regular meetings to keep them informed of progress\nDeveloping and reviewing tender documents, both for consultants and construction works.\nUnderstanding project risks and co-ordinating mitigation activities\nCarrying out Technical Assurance checks and audits of contractor activities and outputs through the detailed design and construction phases of projects\nAssisting in the resolution of engineering issues arising through project delivery and ensuring quality control\nManaging multiple engineering aspects of projects from inception to completion, ensuring they meet technical and quality standards\nCollaborating with project stakeholders, including clients, architects, and contractors, to understand project requirements and objectives\nDeveloping and overseeing project plans, schedules, and budgets, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget\nSupporting the project team in preparing detailed MEICA & interface engineering drawings, schematics, and technical documentation\nWorking with the project team by assigning in tasks and providing technical guidance and mentorship\nUnderstanding project risks and co-ordinating the mitigation activities, ensuring compliance with safety regulations throughout the project\nCoordinating with other engineering disciplines, such as mechanical, electrical, ICA, process and civil engineers, to ensure integrated and coordinated project designs\nParticipating in site visits and inspections to monitor progress, resolve technical issues, and ensure quality control\nTroubleshooting with the project team in resolving MEICA-related issues that may arise during project execution\nEnsuring that projects adhere to codes, standards, and industry best practices\nManaging project documentation, including technical reports, change orders, and project records\nProviding technical support to clients and designers and addressing their inquiries and concerns\nKeeping up to date with advancements in electrical engineering technology and best practices\nPreparing and delivering project progress reports and presentations to clients and project stakeholders\nEssential:\nAbility to liaise at all levels\nA team player with the ability to coordinate project-related activities with clients’ consultants and 3rd parties\nMethodical approach with a clear focus on client, customer, and quality\nStrong leadership qualities and a natural problem solver\nAble to prioritise a varied workload and demonstrate good time management to comply with deadlines\nFurther education qualified\nSMSTS or NEBOSH qualified\nRelevant CSCS Card (Either Experienced Technical Supervisor, Supervisory, Professionally Qualified Person, or Manager)\nPrevious experience working in a similar role\nFamiliar with programme management and maintenance\nProficient with IT, specifically the full Office 365 suite\nKnowledge of health and safety legislation regarding safe work practices\nSSSTS / SMSTS\n1st Aid trained\nDesireable:\nWIMES Standards familiarisation\nExperience of working within the utilities industry, especially Water & Wastewater\nStrong programme and schedule management experience\nWorking knowledge of the Microsoft Office package\nCommercial and contract experience, Knowledge of MF1, NEC, IChemE or similar model contracts\nEUSR Water Hygiene card\nEducated to Degree level or equivalent in an engineering-related subject, ideally in the field of Mechanical, Electrical, ICA or Manufacturing\nCaring and investing in you\nOur values have been embedded at Barhale for over 40 years, and they are our guiding principles regarding how we care and invest in people.
