The role also involves working closely with the Estimating Department, engineers, and surveyors to ensure that projects are completed safely, whilst ensuring customer requirements and expectations are always maintained or exceeded.\nKey Responsibilities\nGeneral Management\nProduce financial forecasts, monitor and control project costs and cost reporting, and produce monthly reports to the Contracts Manager on project performance, efficient team building and labour organisation\nDeliver projects from the design phase to completion, including all handover documentation\nReview progress, budget resources and planning\nReview work packages and ensure the scope of work is clearly defined and understood\nChair weekly site meetings and ensure the production of accurate records of any discussions and actions\nBuild and maintain good relationships with the customer, framework suppliers and design consultants\nDevelop and maintain construction programmes with Barhale staff\nCo-ordinate and manage site investigations during the ongoing construction process\nDevelop engineering solutions so that a buildable, cost-effective construction solution is delivered that fulfils the client’s requirements\nEnsure production and implementation of Project Plans, risk assessments, method statements, site waste management plans, and procurement of plant and materials are in line with company procedures\nEnsure detailed site diaries/records are completed\nMaintain commercial tension to drive out costs and challenge the status quo\nPrepare comprehensive estimates for additional work outside target costs\nAssist with estimating new tenders\nChase potential new clients\nHealth, safety and environmental\nBy example, set the highest possible standards of leadership in the promotion of HS&E procedures and best practices, ensuring compliance with Company procedures and legal obligations\nEnsure all HSE-related documents are kept up to date\nProduce monthly reports for the HSE team\nAllocate HSE responsibilities and duties for site personnel, check understanding and provide training as necessary\nEnsure that all subcontractors take appropriate steps to follow Barhale’s procedures and processes\nEnsure that site waste management plans and site-specific environmental risk assessments are produced and maintained\nLiaise with third parties to ensure compliance with HSG47, HAUC, NRSWA and Chapter 8 and other required regulatory standards\nProvide training and briefings to the team, to lead cascade briefings, TBTs, 3 Pillar Forums and general briefings\nQuality\nBe responsible for managing and producing ITPs and ensuring they are signed off by relevant parties\nEnsure that the QA File is produced and maintained\nClose out any technical queries\nEnsure as-builts and O&M manuals are submitted to the client on completion\nAbout you\nEssential\nGood working knowledge of contract conditions, CDM regulations, Design Management, Programme & Risk Management, and cost control, including forecasting, actual cost, and value reporting\nAbility to use Primavera P6 software or equivalent\nDegree/HNC in Civil Engineering, or equivalent\nCSCS manager’s card\nSMSTS\nNEBOSH Construction Certificate\nKnowledge of the NEC contract, including the Early Warning and Compensation Event mechanisms\nExcellent communication, people, and team management skills, with the ability to influence, motivate and mentor\nAbility to challenge designs and resolve problems to a conclusion\nManage and deliver a successful project with minimal guidance\nDesirable\nCEng MICE\nKnowledge of the JCT form of contract\nCaring and investing in you\nOur values have been embedded at Barhale for over 40 years, and they are our guiding principles regarding how we care and invest in people.
