The role also involves working closely with the operational team in delivering the works, to ensure that projects are completed in a safe manner, whilst ensuring customer requirements and expectations are always maintained or exceeded.\nKey Responsibilities\nGeneral Management\nAccountable for preparing financial forecasts, monitoring and controlling project costs, and delivering monthly performance reports to the Contracts Manager\nOversee cost reporting processes and ensure accurate tracking of expenditure against the budget\nReview project progress, assess budget utilisation, and contribute to forward planning activities to maintain programme and financial targets\nDevelop practical and cost-effective engineering solutions that ensure the construction approach is buildable and is aligned with the client's requirements\nplanning Deliver projects from the design phase to completion, including all handover documentation\nReview work packages and ensure the scope of work is clearly defined and understood\nChair weekly site meetings and ensure the production of accurate records of any discussions and actions\nBuild and maintain good relationships with the customer, framework suppliers and design consultants\nDevelop and maintain construction programmes\nCoordinate and manage site investigations during the ongoing construction process\nEnsure production and implementation of Project Plans, risk assessments, method statements, site waste management plans, and procurement of plant and materials are in line with company procedures\nEnsure detailed site diaries and/or records are completed and updated\nMaintain commercial tension to drive out cost and challenge the status quo\nPrepare comprehensive estimates for additional work outside target costs\nAssist with estimating new tenders\nIdentify and engage potential new clients to help secure future project opportunities and strengthen the company’s business development pipeline\nManage key client stakeholder relationships\nIntegration of Barhale Integrated Management System (IMS) with scheme requirements\nDevelop and foster a collaborative 'One Team' working environment\nSupport effective team development through efficient labour organisation and resource management\nCollaborate with the recruitment team to define project resource needs and provide clear role requirements\nHealth, safety and environmental\nBy example, set the highest possible standards of leadership in promotion of Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) procedures and best practice, ensuring compliance with Company procedures and legal obligations\nEnsure all HSE-related documents are kept up to date\nProduce monthly reports for the HSE team\nAllocate HSE responsibilities and duties for site personnel, check understanding and provide training as necessary\nEnsure that all subcontractors take appropriate steps to follow Barhale’s procedures and processes\nConfirm that site waste management plans and site-specific environmental risk assessments are produced and maintained\nLiaise with third parties to ensure compliance with HSG47, HAUC, NRSWA and Chapter 8 and other required regulatory standards\nProvide training and briefings to the team, to lead cascade briefings, Toolbox Talks (TBT’s), 3 Pillar Forums and general briefings\nQuality\nBe responsible for managing and producing Inspection and Test Plans (ITP’s) and ensure they are signed off by the relevant parties\nEnsure that the Quality Assurance (QA) File is produced and maintained\nClose out any technical queries\nEnsure as-builts and Operation and Maintenance (O&M) manuals are submitted to the client on completion\nEssential:\nGood working knowledge of contract conditions, CDM regulations, Design Management, Programme and Risk Management and cost control, including forecasting, actual cost and value reporting\nAbility to use Primavera P6 software or equivalent\nDegree/HNC in Civil Engineering, or equivalent\nCSCS manager’s card\nSMSTS\nKnowledge of the NEC contract, including the Early Warning and Compensation Event mechanisms, Option C\nExcellent communication, people and team management skills, with the ability to influence, motivate and mentor\nAbility to challenge designs and resolve problems to a conclusion\nProven track record of managing and delivering successful projects with minimal guidance\nDesireable:\nCEng MICE\nChartered or working towards CEng, IEng AMICE or equivalent\nKnowledge of the Development Consent Order (DCO) process\nCaring and investing in you\nOur values have been embedded at Barhale for over 40 years, and they are our guiding principles regarding how we care and invest in people.
