We're actively developing multiple new products and services on modern tech stacks and need someone who can balance maintaining legacy reliability with helping us design and scale our next-generation cloud architecture.\nResponsibilities: \nIncident Response & Operational Stability: Own the incident management lifecycle for production. Triage alerts, troubleshoot OS-level bottlenecks, debug performance issues, and drive rapid root-cause analysis.\n\nPerformance Monitoring & Debugging: Actively monitor system performance, application logs, and resource health using modern observability platforms (such as Observe by Snowflake) to quickly diagnose and resolve operational issues.\n\nLegacy Infrastructure Management: Proactively maintain, patch, and secure our existing virtual machines on GCP.\n\nLegacy Database Operations & Health: Monitor MySQL 5.7 instances, manage backups, and troubleshoot connection pool exhaustion or locking issues.\n\nCloud Architecture & Modernization: Collaborate to design, provision, and scale forward-looking cloud infrastructure for our new products and services, incorporating modern cloud-native tools and managed services (such as Cloud SQL and BigQuery).\n\nAutomation & Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC): Gradually replace manual operational tasks with clean automation scripts and infrastructure tools to reduce toil and improve repeatability.\n\nSecurity & Compliance: Ensure systems comply with enterprise security baselines through rigorous OS hardening, access controls, and vulnerability patching.\n\nQualificiations:\nExperience: 5+ years in a System Administration, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), or Infrastructure Operations role within an enterprise environment.\n\nLegacy Stack Mastery:\n\nDeep expertise in Linux administration, performance tuning, and troubleshooting (including storage and file system management, specifically ZFS).\n\nProven experience running, tuning, and debugging Java/Tomcat applications in production.\n\nStrong working knowledge of MySQL 5.7, including query tuning, replication, backup/restore strategies, and migration troubleshooting.\n\nProficiency in shell scripting and writing lightweight automation (Bash)\n\nCloud & Modernization Experience:\n\nPractical experience with Google Cloud Platform and managed services, including operational databases (Cloud SQL) and data warehousing platforms (BigQuery).\n\nProduction experience architecting and running containerized environments using Docker and Kubernetes to support new product stacks.\n\nProficiency with Infrastructure-as-Code tools (Terraform) and modern CI/CD deployment workflows.\n\nMindset & Soft Skills:\n\nCalm under pressure: A methodical, safety-first approach to live-site incident response.\n\nPragmatic problem solver: You understand the realities of legacy software and prefer practical, stable solutions over chasing unproven tech fads.\n\nStrong communication skills to collaborate with developers and stakeholders during high-stakes migrations or outages.\n\nIdeal Experience / But Not Required: \nFamiliarity with Java development, enabling you to read application code, assist developers with debugging, or understand internal stack traces more deeply.\n\nExperience with transitioning legacy tech stacks to modern GCP / cloud-native setups.\n\nThe annual gross base salary range is $90,000 - $150,000USD. This range represents the anticipated target salary range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and are based on factors such as a candidate’s qualifications, skills, and geographic location.
