In this hybrid role, you will support multidisciplinary civil engineering project teams by providing computer-aided drafting and design support across a range of infrastructure projects.\nThe ideal candidate is collaborative, self-motivated, and client-focused. They are comfortable working both independently and as part of project teams, communicate effectively with engineers and clients, and are flexible in adapting to shifting project demands. This role involves supporting both office-based design work and occasional field activities.\nYour Impact - Key Responsibilities\nCAD and design support:\nProvide computer-aided drafting and design support for civil engineering projects\n\nProcess survey data and incorporate it into project designs\n\nPerform grading design and generate 3D design surfaces\n\nDevelop and manage project CAD file structures\n\nPrepare construction drawings and develop renderings\n\nDevelop material quantity take-offs from construction drawings\n\nEngineering and project support:\nWork with engineers to design earthwork and utility projects\n\nAssist with specification preparation and technical documentation\n\nPrepare reports and supporting project deliverables\n\nField and construction support:\nAssist with construction observation, administration, and monitoring\n\nParticipate in out-of-town assignments and field work as required\n\nAbout the Opportunity\nHybrid: A hybrid work arrangement may be considered for this position. Hybrid work refers to splitting time between a Barr office and a home office. This position is based out of Barr's Hibbing, MN office.\n\nTravel expectation: up to 10% domestic travel for local project site visits and training.\n\nAbout You - Required Core Competencies\nEducation: Two-year technical or engineering certificate/degree, or equivalent experience and/or coursework directly related to the role\n\nExperience: 0-2 years of experience performing related work in an engineering or industrial environment\n\nSoftware: Familiarity with civil CADD design platform: Autodesk, Civil 3D\n\nDriver’s license: possession of a current, valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.\n\nMust be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship by Barr, now or in the future.\n\nPreferred Qualifications\nProficiency using current versions of AutoCAD and Civil 3D\n\nFamiliarity with spreadsheet and word-processing software\n\nExperience developing, using, and interpreting construction drawings\n\nExperience with construction observation, documentation, and cost estimating\n\nAbility and willingness to travel and stay near client sites for field work, construction observation, testing, and investigations\n\nCompensation: anticipated range of $24.25-$32.00 hourly. Compensation will vary based on relevant experience, education, skill level, and other compensable factors. Employees in this position may also be eligible for a discretionary cash bonus based on team and individual performance.
