This role will support employees and managers, maintain HR systems and processes, and help foster a positive, safe, and productive workplace.\nKey Responsibilities\nRecruitment, Hiring, and Onboarding:\nManage full-cycle recruiting: job postings, screening, interviews, offers, and onboarding.\nDevelop and update job descriptions in collaboration with department managers.\nPayroll and Benefits Administration:\nProcess bi-weekly payroll accurately and on time, including timekeeping review, overtime, PTO, garnishments, and new-hire and termination changes.\nAdminister health, dental, vision, supplemental, life, HSA, EAP, and 401(k) programs, including enrollments, qualifying life events, carrier and broker coordination, and invoice reconciliation.\nLead annual open enrollment and process benefit terminations and COBRA notices.\nAdminister short-term disability, and other leaves, and manage ADA accommodation requests.\nSupport COBRA, HIPAA, ACA, and ERISA compliance, including notices, reporting, and plan documentation.\nEmployee Relations, Performance, and Separations\nServe as a resource for employee concerns, conflict resolution, and workplace investigations.\nCoordinate performance reviews, goal setting, and coach managers on documentation and discipline.\nManage voluntary and involuntary separations, including final pay, return of property, and system access.\nRespond to unemployment claims and manage related hearings.\nDOT Compliance, Safety, and Training\nMaintain DOT/FMCSA compliance: driver qualification files, medical certificates, CDL and MVR monitoring, and Clearinghouse queries.\nManage the DOT drug and alcohol testing program (pre-employment, random, post-accident, reasonable suspicion) and the third-party administrator.\nCoordinate workers' compensation claims, OSHA 300/300A/301 logs, safety training, forklift and driver certifications, and audit readiness.\nPolicies, Records, and Systems\nDevelop and communicate HR policies in compliance with federal and Wisconsin employment laws.\nMaintain accurate, confidential employee records and administer BambooHR.\nTrack HR metrics, recommend process improvements, and perform other duties as assigned.\nRequired Education and Experience\n3-5 years of progressive HR generalist experience, including hands-on payroll and benefits administration.\nWorking knowledge of federal and Wisconsin employment laws and benefits regulations (FLSA, FMLA, ADA, COBRA, ERISA, HIPAA, ACA).\nExperience with an HRIS and payroll system (BambooHR a plus).\nStrong communication skills, sound judgment, and absolute discretion with confidential information.\nAbility to work independently, take initiative, and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.\nProficiency with Microsoft Office.\nPosition Type and Expected Hours of Work:\nThis is a part-time position. Office hours are Monday through Thursday, 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Scheduling flexibility is available to accommodate your personal schedule while meeting the needs of the position. The agreed-upon schedule must remain consistent each week and will be finalized and outlined in the offer letter.\nWork Environment:\nThis job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, copy machines, filing cabinets and fax machines.\nOther Duties:\nBarr Inc. is a diversified family-owned business that includes B2B Commercial Refrigeration, Commercial Racking, Storage, and Luxury Apartments.
