This role sets the engineering strategy, standards and maintenance and capital programmes that deliver safe, reliable, and cost-effective asset performance in support of the production plan. It leads the function through the Engineering Manager – Fixed Plant and the Engineering Manager – Mobile plant, ensuring both areas work to one set of systems, standards and ways of working. It also supports the Operations Manager and site leadership team on all engineering matters.\n\nYour duties will include but are not limited to the following: \n\nPromote and enforce compliance with safety, health and environmental policies, standards and regulations, and live and instill Barrick’s DNA across the function, including contractors.\n\nHold the relevant legal engineering accountabilities under Zambian mining legislation, and ensure appointments and compliance are in place across both areas.\n\nDevelop emission reduction initiatives across the Process plant, HME and LME.\n\nLead, coach and hold accountable, the Engineering Manager – Fixed Plant and the Engineering Manager – Mobile Maintenance, setting clear performance expectations for both.\n\nSet one engineering strategy, standard and operating rhythm across fixed plant and mobile fleet, aligned with the AME regional maintenance and systems standards.\n\nAct as the engineering lead in the site leadership team, supporting the Operations Manager on production planning, risk and investment decisions.\n\nManage the Stay in Business Capital process to ensure maximum value is created through investment\n\nDeliver best in class engineering and maintenance within the annual maintenance budget across fixed plant and mobile fleet.\n\nImprove the reliability of critical equipment to prevent major production stoppages and achieve budgeted availability and throughput.\n\nDrive the shift from reactive to proactive and predictive maintenance through work management, defect elimination, asset tactics and condition monitoring.\n\nEmbed a disciplined, SAP driven planning, scheduling and reliability cadence for routine work and shutdowns.\n\nUse life cycle costing to guide decisions on replacement, refurbishment and component change-out.\n\nPlan and deliver a sustaining capital programme that supports the Life of Mine plan and the Super Pit Expansion.\n\nLead engineering readiness and the safe handover of newly commissioned plant and fleet from projects into stable operations.\n\nProvide engineering input to studies, business cases, and capital requests.\n\nIntegrate demand planning with Supply Chain to optimise stock levels and critical spares.\n\nManage OEM and contractor performance to ensure high-quality service delivery, while pursuing cost rationalisation and quality improvement.\n\nScale and build a resilient engineering and maintenance organisation to support the expansion, within approved headcount.\n\nPrioritise the development of Zambian personnel through on the job training, skills transfer, mentoring, apprenticeships and graduate pathways.\n\nBuild succession for senior engineering, technical and supervisory roles, progressing national talent into these roles over the next three to five years.\n\nIncrease gender diversity in the engineering function where possible\n\nDrive the use of data analytics, condition monitoring, and automation, aligned with the AME technology framework.\n\nPursue continuous improvement and cost optimisation across the engineering function.\n\nTo be considered for the position, you must meet the following requirements:\n\nDegree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
