This role is responsible for ensuring suppliers meet contractual, regulatory, and quality requirements while supporting a reliable, compliant, and high-performing supply chain. The ideal candidate combines technical expertise, strong leadership skills, and a commitment to operational excellence and continuous improvement.\nResponsibilities\nThe Quality Engineer will:\nDevelop, implement, and maintain supplier quality processes in accordance with AS9100 standards, contractual obligations, customer requirements, and company policies.\nManage supplier qualification, approval, and ongoing performance monitoring activities, including maintenance of the Approved Supplier List (ASL).\nDefine, review, and approve quality flow-down requirements for purchased products and services.\nConduct supplier audits, assessments, and surveillance activities to verify compliance with quality, technical, and contractual requirements.\nPerform source inspections and verification activities for purchased products, materials, and services.\nReview supplier documentation, certifications, inspection records, and quality data to ensure compliance with applicable requirements.\nEstablish and monitor supplier quality performance metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs).\nPartner with suppliers to strengthen quality systems, improve performance, and drive corrective and preventive actions.\nInvestigate supplier-related quality issues and coordinate containment, root cause analysis, and corrective action implementation.\nManage Supplier Corrective Action Requests (SCARs) and verify effectiveness of corrective actions.\nAnalyze nonconformance trends and supplier performance data to identify risks and drive continuous improvement initiatives.\nDevelop and present supplier quality reports, performance dashboards, and status updates to program and leadership teams.\nCreate and maintain quality procedures, work instructions, and process documentation.\nCollaborate with procurement, engineering, manufacturing, program management, and quality teams to support program execution and supplier readiness.\nSupport project planning and execution by identifying quality risks, supplier requirements, and mitigation strategies.\nCommunicate supplier performance, quality concerns, and project status to internal and external stakeholders.\nSupport strategic quality initiatives and special projects as assigned.\nContribute to the development and enhancement of quality management systems, processes, and best practices.\nQualifications\nRequired Education/Experience/Skills:\nBachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, or a related technical discipline, plus ten (10) years of experience in Supplier Quality Engineering, Procurement Quality Engineering, Supplier Management, or a related quality role within aerospace, defense, spaceflight, or other highly regulated industries.\nThorough knowledge of AS9100 Quality Management System requirements.\nExperience conducting supplier audits, assessments, source inspections, and purchased product verification activities.\nExperience reviewing engineering drawings, specifications, contracts, purchase orders, and technical requirements.\nExperience managing supplier quality issues, nonconformances, corrective actions, and risk mitigation activities.\nDemonstrated expertise in Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA), containment, preventive action, and continuous improvement methodologies.\nStrong analytical skills with the ability to evaluate quality metrics, performance trends, and statistical data.\nExperience developing procedures, work instructions, quality plans, and process documentation.\nStrong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.\nDemonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and meet aggressive deadlines while maintaining high-quality results.\nExcellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder engagement skills.\nAbility to work effectively in fast-paced, evolving environments with minimal supervision.\nProven problem-solving skills, sound judgment, and a proactive approach to addressing challenges.\nStrong organizational skills and attention to detail.\nHigh level of accountability, ownership, and commitment to customer satisfaction.\nAbility to collaborate effectively across functions and build productive relationships with internal teams and external suppliers.\nDemonstrated leadership, teamwork, execution discipline, and commitment to operational excellence.\nPreferences:\nExperience with AS9102 First Article Inspection (FAI) requirements.\nKnowledge of NADCAP accreditation processes and special process requirements.\nExperience supporting Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) activities.\nExperience with aerospace, human spaceflight, or NASA-related programs.\nWorking knowledge of ERP systems used in manufacturing or aerospace environments.\nExperience with Deltek Costpoint or similar enterprise resource planning systems.\nFamiliarity with statistical process control, advanced quality tools, and supplier development methodologies.\nExperience leading supplier improvement initiatives and strategic quality programs.\nEntrepreneurial mindset with a track record of driving organizational growth and process innovation.\nPassion for aerospace, space exploration, and mission-focused work.\nEssential
