You will design, build, test, and maintain applications, tools, and services using a range of programming languages and technologies. You will work alongside IT operations support personnel and other developers responsible for the core business functions of our internal applications. The ideal candidate has hands-on project experience building full-stack applications, working with relational databases, and developing in Linux environments. They also have a strong desire to learn new tools and frameworks as mission needs evolve.\nResponsibilities\nThe Software Developer will:\nDesign, develop, test, and maintain software applications, tools, and services that support internal operations and contract deliverables.\nWrite clean, readable, well-structured code in languages such as Python, PHP, C++, Java, C#, JavaScript, or others as project needs dictate.\nDevelop backend logic and services and contribute to front-end interfaces with a focus on usability and UI/UX optimization.\nDesign and maintain relational database schemas and write efficient SQL queries to support application data needs.\nBuild utilities and automation scripts to streamline workflows, process data, and reduce manual effort.\nContainerize and deploy applications using Docker and support cloud or on-premises hosting environments.\nApply sound data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented design principles to create scalable, reliable, and high-performing solutions.\nWrite unit tests and take responsibility for code quality, security, reliability, and performance.\nWork closely with product owners, designers, IT operations, and other engineers to understand business requirements and translate them into technical specifications.\nTroubleshoot, debug, and resolve application, server, and network issues in Linux/UNIX and Windows environments.\nTake part in code reviews and follow version control best practices using Git.\nTake part in Agile/Scrum ceremonies and contribute to continuous improvement of development infrastructure and processes.\nDocument code, designs, and processes for long-term maintainability.\nPerform all other assigned duties.\nQualifications\nRequired Education/Experience/Skills:\nBS degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field or anticipated degree by December 2026, from an accredited college or university.\nProficiency in more than one programming language (e.g., C++, Python, Java, C#, JavaScript, PHP).\nSolid understanding of data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented programming principles.\nKnowledge of database design and SQL, with hands-on experience using a relational database such as MySQL, MariaDB, PostgreSQL, or MS SQL Server.\nFamiliarity with Git for version control.\nUnderstand the value of writing unit tests.\nDetail oriented with the ability to manage and ensure quality work (completeness and accuracy).\nExcellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate technical concepts clearly.\nSelf-motivated and able to drive initiatives from end to end.\nAbility to work with a distributed team, including remote locations and different time zones.\nExcellent analytical and problem-solving skills.\nTeam oriented.\nPreferences:\nFull-stack project experience building applications end to end (front-end UI, backend logic, and database).\nExperience with web development technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) and at least one web or application framework.\nExperience with Linux/UNIX environments and network programming (TCP/IP, sockets, HTTP).\nExperience with Docker and deploying applications to cloud platforms such as AWS.\nExperience with asynchronous or concurrent programming.\nExposure to data processing, machine learning, or natural language processing libraries.\nExperience with .NET and other Microsoft scripting and programming environments.\nExperience working in a Scrum/Agile environment.\nInterest in or experience with the Space Industry.\nTutoring, mentoring, or instructional experience in computer science or mathematics.\n\nEssential Requirements\nMust be a U.S. Citizen and successfully complete a U.S. government background investigation.\nApplicant selected may be subject to government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.\nWork may involve sitting for extended periods.\nMay require lifting and carrying up to 25 lb.\nMust have sufficient mobility to enter areas of test facilities where necessary.\nGenerally, an office environment but can involve inside or outside work depending on task.\nStandard office equipment (PC, telephone, fax, etc.)\nRegular attendance in accordance with established work schedule is critical.\nAbility to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements when required.\nMust be able to work in a team atmosphere.\nMust put forward a professional behavior that enhances productivity and promotes teamwork and cooperation.\nGrooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or others.\nThis position may require some commuting and traveling to other installations as needed.\nDon’t miss out on this great opportunity;
